Water pressurized spud gun?

Has anyone made a spud gun that uses water pressure as the propellant? Or a water and air combo. I have not seen many examples of people using water in their cannons, its usually all air, or some kind of combustible fluid. Would it work as well as an all air setup?

It might work similar to a squirt gun or a water rocket.

It would probably look really cool being fired since the water will come bursting out of the barrel making a smoke like effect like a real cannon.

Water is an incompressible fluid, so I'm not sure there is any way to use it to fire a potato. I think A water rocket uses the mass of the heavy water as a means of thrust. In a spud gun, you want the spring action of the compressed air to all act on the potato. If the energy is used to also shoot out a bunch of heavy water, it will just rob the potato of velocity. I don't think water will add any benefit to a spud gun.

You can have water fill a tank and displace and pressurize the air into a smaller chamber. The only problem is you have to drain the tank every time and you're limited to your municipal or well water pressure.

I'm not sure what you mean.. You will have to explain a bit more.

The water from your hose can be used to displace the air in a chamber and pressurize it. The air pressure is limited to your water pressure coming from the hose. You would only do this if you didn't have a bike pump or air compressor.
