Ok, things seem to be going great, at this rate a contest will be up and going quite soon. I can't wait to see all the cool cannons that are entered (and to show off mine, hehe) School is starting again next week so I would suggest at least two months until the deadline. I would like to sign up for this, count me in.

I have finally decided... COUNT ME IN!!!! I can stand to make one more combustion just for this competition.

Every time I make a cannon I fell like I could've done better. Maybe this last combustion will be my best. I wanna "perfect" my combustions before I move on to hybrids and pneumatics...

Come on people, start trying your hands at the contest rules. Thats EVERYTHING, like dates, rules, etc. Im thinking we should have the contest span for a long of time to allow construction time and so people can be encouraged by builds early on.

Im comtemplating wether or not to delay some of my builds so that I will not beat all you. That would look bad if I won all the categories ;-)

pimpmann you cant enter, you are a mod which most liekly means your a judge....

As for deadline it must be a good while because some people need to special order parts and whatnot, also for catagories rmich is really right at the point of a perfect list, some tweaking may be needed.

Rules would have to be in the area of no old cannons can be entered, propper parts must be used to prove that the cannon is functional, with a picture judges can determine if everything on the gun is functional and not just some bullshit the maker slapped on to win and say did something when it really does nothing. Im sure theres plenty more, we have a long way to go before anything gets underway.

AND WE NEED SOME SORT OF PRIZE

Ok, well how about having the judging after christmas. I know it is a long time but that will allow every compulsery stage of production to take place. The more important are research, design, window shopping, part collection, constuction, testing, fine tuning, data recording and taking pics and movies to submit.

This will also give everybody enough time to organize a camera, not to mention that it would be easyer to get money in the holidays.
(If I sound as if I don't know what I am talking about it is because it is late again) :P

OF COURSE PIMPMANN CAN ENTER!, you must just be worried he will beat you.

Well just an idea but if there is gonna be a prize for this then i think there should be a prize for every category. And if there is a prize i think there should also be an entry fee for every category someone enters.

Yeah, pimpmann should definitely be allowed to enter... I doubt that he would just declare himself as the winner with his mightly mod powers

In terms of prizes... the winner of each category could receive a special title under their forum name (like "Hybrid Master" for the winner of the hybrid section; give DR a run for his money :P ). I know its not much... but is that the real reason that we are competing in this contest? For a prize? A tangible prize (such as a fully built cannon, pair of sprinkler valves, etc) would undoubtedly increase the likelyhood of cheating and complicate the whole situation; who provides the prize, what it is, etc etc.

If someone is willing to donate a prize however, be my guest :D

In my case if I win they will just email a pic of the cannon to me  I don't really mind about the prize but it would be cool if you could win some sort of special valve. Mabey we should have to pay 5US to enter so a prize could be organized( if pcguy doesn't just buy pizza with it).

To make it even simpler you could just have a cheap/expensive catagory for each type of cannon.( or simple/complex)

me go to bed now, neck killing me

Contest Rules-
1- This contest is iniated as of 7/15/06 with it concluding 12/31/06.
2- For a gun to win it must not be completed prior to the date of 7/15/06. Although that does not dis-qualify guns that may be "partially" finished.
3- There is NO limit on cannon entering.
4- All cannons will be entered the same method, then if such a cannon deserves a award a judge will deem its category. Hence a cannons category will only be assumed prior to judging.
5- There is 6 categories in which a cannon may win:
-1) Aesthetics
-2) Power
-3) Rate of fire
-4) Portability
-5) Uniqueness/ "New-ness" in Concept
-6) Material used
6- May a judge be able to enter?
7- A winning cannon must have several pictures depicting the different features of the given cannon.
8- To win either of the "Power" or "Rate of Fire" categories a video must be included. This video MUST include both a video of the launcher shooting and a video of the projectile hitting a target. Sound is not required, but a plus. (I dont have sound on my camera)
9- Winners of each will category will receive a prize. Prizes MAY not present themselves in a physical form.
10- Blah theres more...

You guys get the jist on how to write these things out. If you so choose you can add to the one above and submit requests for changes. If you add to the above one, please don’t copy and post the whole thing, rather just write the new ones in the post. I didn’t want to write this whole thing out, but since you all ran like headless chickens in the event of me asking I decided I would start you all on the right step.

Edit- How about a form being filled out for cannons submitting into the contest that will be included in the post containing the cannon.
