I made a set of rules too,
Mini Pneumatic (no chamber over ? volume)
Smallbore Pneumatic (Bore of up to 1/2 inch.)
Medium Bore Pneumatic (1/2 inch bore, up to 1.5 inch bore.)
large bore Pneumatic (1.5 inch bore and above)*

Mini Hybrid (no chamber over ? inch)
Medium Hybrid
large Hybrid

smallbore combustion
mini pill bottle combustion
mini Combustion
medium Combustion
Large combustion

BBMG
Cloud
Vortex
6MM
4.5 MM
other calliber.

Ghetto class.

*Rules and restrictions may vary.

Wait... I am a little confused with your rules pimpmann... can pneumatics, hybrids, bbmg, and combustions all compete in the same category?

I suppose that could work... but I think that they should be seperated. For example, in the rate of fire competition, BC pneumatics built a sick auto-gb launcher that gets (iirc) 160 rpm. THAT is incredible for a pneumatic. As amazing as it is, it would be demolished by any bbmg. That is why I think we need sub categories for each type of cannon
For example:
Combustions
1) aesthetics
2) power
3) rate of fire
4) portability
5) uniqueness
6) etc
Pneumatics
1) aesthetics
2) power
3) rate of fire
4) portability
5) uniqueness
6) etc
Hybrids
1) aesthetics
2) power
3) rate of fire (could get dangerous  )
4) portability
5) uniqueness
6) etc
BBMG
1) aesthetics
2) power
3) rate of fire
4) portability
5) uniqueness
6) etc

Now the criteria would not be solely those... they would vary from one type of launcher to the next. Bear in mind, these criteria are just ideas which the voters should ponder on while considering which cannon to chose AS THE ABSOLUTE BEST OF THEIR CLASS; there would not be an aesthetics winner from each class, a power winner from each class, etc, etc.

I just feel the different types of cannons should be seperated. A hybrid is the most powerful, but it should not be compared to pneumatics and combustions for power... because it would knock them out of the competition... no question.

So at the end of the contest, four winners would be selected: Best combustion, best pneumatic, best hybrid, best bbmg...

I hope this clears everything up

Mabey you should not have so many catagories beceause you may have a hard time finding enough participants for each. I mean alot of people would probably take part in building a gun, but probably no more than a couple beceause they would want to make there gun the best. So you could possible end up with some categories only have like 2 or 3 guns in it.

All Im trying to say is that there may not be alot of competition taking place if you decide to make so many categories. So you may have to beat it down, I mean it would be great to have the number of categories sugested by rmich732 but I don't think that there would be good competition among some categories.

Do you guys fail to realize that 24 cannons will not be built???

Thats a good point with the ROF. I suppose BBMGs would be banned from such competition with a projectile diameter requirement of .5" or larger. Hybrids wouldnt win everything. Possibly power is the only categorie it has advantages in, and thats it. As you can see when you break down into categories either one cannon is going to when a shit load of things, or simply a lot of catetgories will be left "hangin'"

That is not what I mean though!! I suppose I am having trouble conveying my idea to you

Ok

There will be four, and only four categories. The four categories will be as follows:
1) Pneumatic
2) Combustion
3) Hybrid
4) BBMG

Only four winners will be selected; one winner will be selected from each category. The best combustion, the best pneumatic, the best BBMG, and the best hybrid. THAT IS ALL

A moderator should post criteria by which voters make their choice. That is what those six qualities that I listed underneath each category in my above post. They are simply to help voters consider every aspect so that they may make an informed choice.

I know I have posted the same thing now three times... but I just am trying to get everyone to understand my idea...

*Mod powers kick in*
I think the idear' is gay and such a system wont happen ;-)

I say devise another system that inspires more "creativity" while not confing to a certain "style". Not to mention I have a gun coming up that would be a sketchy fit in any of those...

What are you talking about? We have yet to finish the rules. Why are you so jumpy when the contest is proposed to end months from now? Hold your horses here people, and lets get everything set in stone and stop leaving the rules have assed.

I don't know about you guys but my gun is already planned and laid out. With that much time I should have plenty of opportunity to make it good.

I don't care which class mine finally gets bumped into. It's all about building the type of gun you can build best. So ya'll can argue about the rules while I get to work...

The mod has the final say in this!, Pimpmanns rules are the best so far just work around those damn it! When do we enter the contest? That contest form can only be for finished cannons.
