Pretty pissed off...

Well, I finally gathered enough cash to buy the pipe and fittings I needed for my gun, which I have been waiting for MONTHS for- and what happens? I buy and cut ABS instead of PVC for my chamber. Yeah, it may only be $15, but that's the only free cash I will have until I graduate from HS. I'm putting all my cash into school. I'm only 17, and my parents let me do this. I'm just soo pissed off right now. They had ABS and PVC in the same rack. I dont know what to do now. I have all of a gun besides a pressure chamber. My mom is pissed off yelling at me because I bought the wrong thing. I can't return it now. Ugh- I just wanted to vent, and maybe someone here has some ideas. Thanks.

ABS pipe

I thought I read here to use ABS pipe instead of pvc pipe. I'm sure someone else could help more.

You can use either PVC or ABS for a combustion. ABS is not a good idea for pneumatics, also you can't solvent weld PVC and ABS together.

No, use PVC. ABS is for the devil.

How did you buy ABS instead of PVC? One is black nd the other is white and both are clearly labeled.

Just use the ABS. It's fine for a combustion.

Yes how did you mistake them??? You can glue ABS and PVC together with transisition cement. To be 100% sure put self tapping screws in the jount.

Transition glue may make a seal, but it does not have great strength. I have heard of numerous cases where it has blown apart. Definitely use self-tapping screws, as SpudStuff said

Transitional glue is a bad idea, most plumbing codes don't allow the use of it even in DWV applications.

Also I'm pretty sure Kris is building a pneumatic, ABS and pneumatics don't mix much less glued to PVC.

ABS + Pneumatic = Bursting Pipe
ABS + PVC = Shitty Joint. (even with screws)
ABS + PVC + Pneumatic = One REALLY BAD Cannon!

Listen Kris, I'm sorry you bought the wrong pipe. But dude you can't compromise the entire cannon and not to mention your safety because of one piece of pipe.

Duh hes building a pneumatic.
Anyway, your pretty screwed mate, just make a combustion from the pipe you brought.

Actually, he's making a Blue Flame clone like Boomer did.

ABS should be fine.

Actually, I just went out yesterday in search of a cannon for as cheap as I can. For now, I have to hold off on the BFII. It is pneumatic. I went to a friends house and got some PVC off of him. The glue is setting as we speak...

I also bought a tap and dye for my valves and gauge.

ABS is an acronym for acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene. ABS pipe and fittings are black and do not carry a pressure rating. The are usually cellular core (BAD) and not nearly as safe as SCH40 Pressure Rated PVC.

If I did what you just did, I'd be hauling the lawnmower out of the shed and ringing some doorbells :P
