Ammo Rolling Out

Hey guys.

Im new here.

Here's a picture of my cannon.
Image

the black bit is the cannon and the white but under it is the barrel which screws on. I have a sprinkler valve on there. However im not using it electronicaly. Instead you have to turn that gear. When I get around to it I will attach some sort of a triger to the cog so that I dont need to hold it funny.

Any who, When I am shooting marbals out of there they tend to roll out when I aim down.

Is there anyway to stop this?

(Ohh and by the way heres a quick thing I made on Photo Shop to show you what I mean by the trigger. Thew only thing is my sprinkler valve takes a 1 quater turn to open. Hrmmm...

put a tiny ridge of silicone caulk an inch or so inside your barrel and that should keep them from roling out.

You could put a patch of tape on the top of the barrel.

It's a ballvalve. Not a diaphram valve. You picked yourself the slowest one out there, wich hinders performance. The faster it opens the more power you can transfer to the projectile. No shame in that.Everybody starts out with ballvalves I guess.

On the top of the page you can find a blue botton saying spud wiki.
Visit the link and look up the valves-section.( under pneumatic cannons I think)

You'll find there are way better valves out there.
Welcome to our wonderful "sport"!!

oops..forgot to answer your question.
Put the marble in some wadding( like toilet paper) for a better seal and to stop it from rolling out.
If the fit is already to snug just muzzle load the marble, then load some wadding in front of it.There are more ways of stopping the marble from rolling out, like adding an O ring, but wadding is the easiest.

cool thanks!

Also its out of a sprinkler thingo so I asumed it was a sprinkler valve.

I know there are different types of sprinkler valves(the one I have and the electro magnet type).

but If I can turn it fast enough why should it matter? Because I can pull that MIGHTY fast.

try a sprinkler valve and you will know what we mean.

you cant open it half as fast as a electric or pneumatically modified solenoid valve.

with a pneumatically actuated sprinkler valve you can hold the gun comfortably

The gun looks pretty good and comfortable to hold, though

I have the same problem, but then again, I have nothing more than 38 inches long that's thin enough to fit in a 1/2" barrel.

What kind of valve you want depends on the purpose. If you want power, go with a sprinkler valve. If you just wanna plink around a ball valve is fine. Nice gun, and good job!

BTW, let's try to keep this on topic. He asked about keeping the ammo in the barrel, not which valves are better. ;)

thanks for all your replys.

I know this is off topic but even at the moment it is comfortable to hold and fire. Its extreamly comfortable infact. The back of it is right in my shoulder. So if there was heaps of recoil... I could take it! :D And even with my valve it has some nice power!

I would wrape the marbal in tape but its too perfect of a fit. Its almost like the marbals were designed to be shot out of the barrel. :D

But the marbals could still roll.

The tissue thing works perfect! Thanks!
