I know it's not a spud cannon but I just wanted to share it with you guys... The wife doesn't get as excited over it as I'm sure some of you would... :D

I cut, drilled and polished every part of this project.
Everything is surgical stainless except the wheels, they are aluminum.
I used a doorknob hole saw to cut the front wheels and a smaller hole saw to cut the rear. Put them on a press and polished em'up.

The barrel was actually 4 pieces that I mig welded together, then turned down on a lathe. The barrel is over 1/4" thick and about 14" long with a 1" bore down the center. (It's nice having machine tools in your shed) I used brass fasteners and hex weights on the bottom of the chassis to weight it down. It weights about 30 lbs!

It uses ffg black powder, about 3 grams... and you can hear it a mile a way... no joking! I have to use the cannon on grass because it launches back about 20' when it blows end over end. I only pack it with wadding and wet newspaper. Much louder then a 10g shotgun. I once put a 4" nail punch in the barrel and it blew it completely into an oak tree... it's still there somewhere in the middle! It took me about a week to cut and build it. I made it up as I went along so there are no plans to give (many have asked) I buy the fuse at cannonfuse.com (where I found the link for this site)

thanks for looking!

HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS!!

That is THE sweetest cannon I have ever seen!! Unfortunately I think it would qualify as against the forum rules for using gun powder (solid propelant) :(

Do you have a CNC machine or what did you use to cut all that out besides a lathe?
:D Always rely on Murphy's Laws :D

Nice, you should use your building skills toward making a propane combustion/hybrid or make a sweet pneumatic.

sorry to the mods if I posted incorrectly... I just thought some of you guys would like seeing it (I am licensed class "A" high capacity here in MA ~ fwiw)

I used a jig saw, drill press and a small metal lathe I bought from northern tools a few years back for $300.
Materials only cost about $50, I had some of them already though.

I'll see if I can find the video tonight... it's going to be hard because I have like 150 videos on my computer and none of them are named and all have just a general media icon.

Thanks for the compliments!
I'd love to sell them but god know what legal crap I'd get myself in if I did.

I think I also have photos of it as I'm cutting it, I'll try to find them also before the mods close the thread! 8)

EDIT:
I cant find the vid, so tomorrow morning I'll light it up and catch a vid, I'll post it before 10:30.... :D
