First they replicate the myth then if that fails they replicate the outcome or something along those lines meaning they get to blow stuff up!

i saw that blowhard 300 episode it was ok. i was totaly suprised with the eye patch myth. i hadnt even heard that one

The myth concerning the eye patch, was that having a patch over one eye helped to preserve "night vision" in that eye; If you suddenly had to step into a dark area (like: below deck, for example) you could quickly switch the patch from one eye to another... The previously covered eye would already be adjusted to darkness, thus allowing you to see much better, instead of waiting several minutes for your eye to adjust to the darkness.

Kinda stupid, in a way, because having one eye covered all the time cuts down on your peripheral vision. An attack from the covered side would be to an enemies advantage.
