i was just wondering what you guys think the average lifespan of a spudgun would be.

if you love an cherish it : forever!

about a second if you dont know what you are doing... just kidding.

my combustions seem to not work as well after about 6 months or so, my pneumatics, however, seem to last for years. i still have m very first and it is about 2 years old.

it also depends on what its made of. a copper QEV gun will out last a combustion by a few years.

If it's a combustion, (and well-made) there really isnt a reason that it couldn't last forever. Your ignitor will eventually wear out, and your spark gap will get corroded. Keep the uv light away from it and dont use any bad fuels and itll be around for a very long time.

If it's a pneumatic, the only thing you really have to worry about is chamber stress. Rubber gaskets may eventually crack so valves may go bad.

If it's a bbmg, it'll last longer than your income reserved for BBs.

If it's a hybrid, It depends on the materials. It'll probably expire a split second before you do

If its a mini, It'll last until the hotglue falls off. Then again, 1700kpa's copper mini will probably be dug up 2000 years from now.


Plastic barrels will all wear down with time.

A well maintained, stored and constructed cannon will last ages.

Something like a cared for copper piston pneumatic could last a lifetime, aside from an occasional valve sealing face change - rubber will slowly degrade.

ya, it depends on what you mean by lifespan, if you mean all the same parts, never changed, it wont last long, but if you mean untill it is so gone you cant repair i it could out last you...

It really depends on the specifics. Like if its a combustion it really depends on the fuel. For example, if you are using starter fluid it will last far less than if you use cleaner and lower temp propane. If it is pneumatic and you stay within the pressure limits for the pipe it should last a very long time. I don't know about hybrids but since they have both high temp and pressure, they might not last as long. Airsoft and bb guns ,if they are using something for a seal that keeps the bb from rolling down the barrel I can see that needing to be replaced on occasion. Hope that helped some! Spud

I know of combustions that have lasted 6 years or more! The only thing that went was the ignition. But thats easy to replace!

Well mine never seem to last longer than my next gun i.e. i build one and steal parts from another, and/or i drop or otherwise break other guns

also depends what you shot. that can do a number on your barrel. i shoot a lot of molded wax bullets and if has left quite a residue on the inside of my barrel. if its a piston pneumatic make sure you keep the parts lubed

That would be the HD DVD security code (otherwise known as the numbers they tried to ban) for a huge percentage of HD DVD movies that was released across the net a while back, against the will of the authorities.

At the moment, the appropriate authorities are trying to track it down and issue take down notices, but I don't think that's working well.
However, you can theoritically get in a lot of trouble for displaying it on the net...

Ohh and i have had a pneumatic PVC small bore cannon for years now and it still works just don't drop them.Give them a clean every noe and then bit of TLC.

Don't pass a plastic cannon on to the next generation, plastics degrade with exposure to UV light so unless you've been firing it in pitch darkness it's slowly weakening.

My longest-lasting gun so far was between 3 and 4 years and saw at least 500 shots. It was a cell-core ABS combustion. It started with a chamber fan and two spark gaps using screws, with starter fluid as the primary fuel. I added on board metered propane after a year or two.

As long as the pipe was stored at a reasonably constant room temperature, away from sunlight, a spud gun could last quite a long time... Some types of pipe are more sensitive to UV and corrosion than others, also.
