I use pvc. pressure rated pvc. all pressure rated parts. it's fine if you use it correctly obviously these people didn't. you can see they used dwv.

yes it ok for combustions but i wouldin't use it.

when used properly, pvc can hold lots of pressure. just use the proper fittings and solvent weld correctly

I'd never make a pvc gun unless it was pressure rated. theres a dwv fitting called a bell reducer. instead of using that you use a bushing? if there was no rating why would people use the bushing?

strait from the mcmaster book

"Schedule and Pressure

Plastic pipe fittings and pipe are classified by Schedule, which is an indicator of the wall thickness. The higher the Schedule, the thicker the walls will be; thicker walls allow a pipe fitting or pipe to handle more pressure. In order to maintain the integrity of a piping system, be sure to use the same Schedule pipe and pipe fittings within one system.
!!Plastic pipe fittings are not rated for pressure!!; however, the pressure rating for pipe is often used as a reference. Keep in mind there are several factors that will reduce the pressure rating. For example, threads on a fitting will lower the pressure rating by approximately 50%. A reducing fitting will also lower the overall pressure of a system. And, as temperature rises, the amount of pressure a system can withstand decreases."
