Today I was working in my garage on my new 2" barrel sealer and I noticed that there had been police sirens going for about 10minutes about a street accross from me, it was late at night about 6:30pm so it was pretty dark(winter so its darker) and I heard someones footstpes run really fast down our driveway, which I thought was very weird considering we have a long driveway about 50m long and we're hidden from the street like you can't see our house from the street so its quite private.

Anyway I heard these footsteps get right up to our gate which is right next to the garage, I put 2 and 2 together(police sirens at night and someone running very fast close to the sirens) and I figured there was someone on the run from the police, so since I had my air compressor charged I quickly grabbed my paintball gun(fire extignuisher one) filled it to 90psi chucked a PB in the breech and slowly opened my garage door, when I did I heard the person start to run away very fasy so I looked over our fence and saw this guy running up my driveway I started to take aim but didn't take the shot as I figured if it wasn't the robber im screwed by the police or if he is a robber I would get my gun taken off me, also its reasonably powerful and didnt feel like killing someone if you hit the right spot or if he trips and hits his head, so i let him run and discharged my PB gun into the night sky over a golf ball course.

About two minutes later the sirens stopped suddenly and I heard cars drive away so I guess they got him.

Well I thought I might as well share my story as this doesnt happen often in my town and the robber could of got a nasty surprise if he ventured into our property....

I wouls have shot him if I were you, then yelled to the cops you got him.

If they asked what it wss that made a hell of a big bruise on his back/head/leg I would just say it was a sligshot.

Still, You did the right thing, but it's nice to know if anyhting would have happened, you ould have wtfpwnt him.

good call, it would have been a great thing to do but the law is an ass and you probably would only have got into trouble.

Yeah with you guys in the States its legal to own spudguns/pneumatics with me its illegal ($4000 fine) for just building one and having it in my possesion without someone over 18. Then if i discharge it in public(driveway is public) property the fine/sentance gets worse, then if i shoot it at someone/public property I can get up to a 3 month jail sentance.

This is the gun I took aim with:

besides what you mentioned above about all that legal suff where you live, if the guy got hurt pretty bad, who could have sued you for assult with a deadly weapon. But still its always good to know you can defend yourself, and make sure the other person will never mess with you again.

Ah but you can't sue in New Zealand! Well not for money anyway and you have to sue a company, like the most he could do is ge health insurance. I would only loose money for a fine from the cops for shooting someone which would go to the government not the robber. So the robber gets arrested, sore leg and money to pay of his doctor bills for getting the wound treated. Nothing more nothing less.

wow, thats pretty cool. Over here in the states, people sue because of their own stupidity. Like recently this drug dealer trying to flee across the border got shot in the ass and he got set free with a nice sum of money from the government while the border patrol agents were sent to jail.

If you had of shot him and that somehow lead to the cops catching this guy and you got away with all the legal stuff... that would of been an awesome heroic story to tell.

I probably wouldn't of shot him either, might of thrown a rock though lol.

Yeah lets throw rocks at them! :P Yeah ive busted 6 robbers before back when i was 11. I saw all these guys get in a white car that pulled up when i was biking home from school, then this old lady screaming they've robbed my house so i got the number plate while this huge Pacific Islander ran down 2 robbers who escaped on foot and tackled them to the ground. The cops came i gave them the number plate, 5minutes later they found the car arrest 6 robbers and all their stuff they had stolen from 8 houses that day. I never heard from the cops again even after they got my contact details.

Dang, I totally would have pwnt the guy. There have been a lot of break ins around where I live recently, but my parents don't want to buy a gun. So, stupid as it sounds, I always have my paintball gun cocked, locked, and loaded where I can grab it quick. I also keep a four-inch blade under my pillow, so call me paranoid if you like, but God help anyone who breaks into my house.

I hope it's sheathed, otherwise it's more likely to harm you while you sleep than any robber ever will.

It's a switchblade type thing. Won't open unless I want it to open.
