We have plenty of time over the summer, and it isn't too hot yet. If anyone knows of a place, we can probably get a shootout together. I don't have a location, but that can be worked out.
Please do not post in this thread unless you live in California and think you may be able to go to a meet if one happens.

as i said in the other thread about where we are from, im totally in.

as stated in said thread, i live in Santa Barbara, so no good locations around me. however i could bring a generator. either 2000W or 3000W, dunno yet.

as for time, pretty much any time is OK, but i have to work, and my dad and i have to buid the camper for our trip next year. other than that i dont have anything planned so im open.

I guess I'll just scan California on Google Earth, and try to find a place on the outskirts of some town or city.

Yeah, im not sure if my parents would let me meet with a group of complete strangers armed with deadly PRODUCE ACCELERATORS
Give me a place and a date and I might be able to talk them into it. I can Bring a few generators, compressors, a welder, and a fifth wheel trailer that im working on- that is, if the convincing of my parents gos over smoothly :D

I think I might have found a place for it. There's a big empty space thing right outside of Greenfield. Greenfield is Southwest of Fresno. If you go on Google Maps and click Hybrid, you can get a good view. Go to Greenfield, then follow Elm until you get to Central. Go East along Central until you get to a road going South and a bit West. It looks like there's black dots on it. There's a big flat empty kidney shaped space half a mile across at the end of it. There's a bunch of black dots (probably trees) to the South of it. It shouldn't be too hard to find the place, and there are roads leading to it. I'll see how many people I can get a "maybe" on, and then we can work out a date.

It's right next to some mmountains and stuff, I think it's public. I think I could probably get at least one friend to come along.
I think it's only an hour or two away from Santa Barbara, the same for me, and about an hour from Fresno.
Hi, I know you're in CA somewhere, think you're free this summer?

I'll call some people and ask if that place is fine. It probably is, but we don't need to get arrested. :D
I'm also checking on hotels/motels in Greenfield, there's probably a Best Western somewhere.

I'm defiantly in, provided that we get written permission to be on that chunk of land.

totally. i'll run away and come if i have to. might as well join the circus while im at it :D

i dont think it will take too much effort to convince my dad.and if i can go i can think of atleast 2 friends who would like to come, but i dunno about the parental units.

by then (if its later in the summer) i hope to have atleast 2 new cannons. i can probably bring a 3000 (maybe 2000) watt generator. if my dad hasnt thrown it away, i can bring a CO2 setup. i might even be able to get a piston valve (if i can convince my dad that bigger is better :D ) and bring a bigger 2" bore cannon.

if only we had the trailer for europe done, i could totally bring a satelite dish and we could have internet, which would be neat.

Spudmonster, that's too bad. It's kind of like that with me about the Vegas meet. My mom said if there was one next year the only way would be to fly there, because driving 11 hours is a bit long.

BC, do you know where to ask about that? I could probably find the phone number for Greenfield's city hall or police station or something like that. It looks like just a piece of public land.

A-98, awesome. A satelite dish would be ridiculous though, I mean, seriously.

If we can get a date and permission for the land, I'll be able to bring a 5 gallon compressor and a couple strafers (along with other stuff, of course).
I also found the location totally by chance, when looking around the outskirts of little towns kind of in between the Bay Area, Santa Barbara, and Fresno. :P

I'm free any time over the summer except for next week because I wanted to be a slug the whole time.

im free any time, im interning for the summer, and i love the "job" but i can leave for however long i like, whenever i like. so im good pretty much any time. i may go to a concert later this summer, but im not sure exactly what date. also, if i get a date and place i can check 'em with my friends, see who can come.

looking forward to it. as i said before, i dont think permission form the parental unit will be too much of a problem.

I have a 26gal compressor I can bring as well, so long as there is a generator.
Call the parks department for a start, provided it is even public land. Might want to offer to submit a copy of the BATF letter as well, and drop 'IPLA' in there somewhere. Looks less like a bunch of teenagers getting together to cause trouble.

I just E-mailed this to the city hall:

The International Potato Launching Association would like to hold a get-together on the outskirts on Greenfield, in an empty stretch of land at the base of the foothills, sometime this summer. I am representing the IPLA to ask for permission on this matter. We will not disturb anything, and you will find the site as clean- or cleaner than when we arrived.

I'll call the parks department as well.

I checked up on motels in the area and there's a Travel Inn and a Budget Inn, both of which are reasonably good, from experience.
BC, I think a 26 gallon compressor would be kind of huge. It would eat a bunch of power to get to 125 psi or whatever, but then again, it would take a while for it to get low enough to need to recharge the tank....
I don't know, we'll work it out.

When are all you guys free?
