A High C:B ratio would help make a loud boom.Say 3L chamber with a 1L barrel it would make quite a bang.

Using a burst disk (i.e., two layers of aluminum foil in a union) with no projectile, in a propane-metered gun with a high C:B ratio, will produce about the loudest bang you're going to get out of a spudgun without going to a hybrid.

Ok,well a C:B is the Chamber to Barrel Ratio.and the 3L stand for 3Litres by volume and the barrel wiht a volume of 1 Litre.You can remember learning Ratios from school right?
I can give you some rough designs that would yeild a loud cannon.
-500mm long 100m Diameter pipe,chamber.
-800mm long 50mm Diameter pipe,barrel.
-100mm to 50mm Reducer.
-100mm threaded endcap.
-PVC Cement and Primer.
If you are using inches you can convert that yourelf,not going to fully spoon feed you.

Shorter barrels normaly mean louder bang but less power. But this guy asked for bang and id go for a large chamber then compress down into a small diamiter barrel thats short and that should get you what you want.

And my cannon Gunshot had a 3' 4'' chamber a 1 1/2'' 2' 11'' barrle with propanne injection, and you can guess where it got its name from.
