I've been thinking and with all the activity of this community I bet we could put out a weekly podcast. I'd be willing to produce it, as I have enough free time and some Imovie skills. As for subject matter we could do a "cannon of the week" and have specs, damage pictures and videos of it, or a commentary by the builder. Also site news and events could be included. people could submit thorough how to's. I don't know if this has been tried before, or of there is any interest, but I'd be willing to try. This would require some organization and communal decisions.
thoughts?

I've seen it on forums 100x bigger then spudfiles, but that's the thing, they're big.

I like the idea, if we can get it to work i'm in full support of it. I don't really know a whole lot about podcasts and what their purpose on this planet is, but sounds interesting.

Basically its a video released (periodically) by a user of itunes that gets distributed automatically to all subscribers. after it is released if you are a subscriber it will give you the option to download it within itunes and watch it on you're computer or ipod.

Well I don't see any opposition could someone recommend (preferably there own) cannon to me and then we could PM a bit and I could put a test together. Advice is welcome.

Perhaps you should consider fortnightly instead?
It's not going to be so much work to do, so it's more likely to get done. If all goes well, then it could doubled to weekly.

thats a very good idea to ensure success, but I have one problem the best software I can find to use is only 30 days(though I may be able to do something about that) also I don't think I can publish it on itunes without the retail version and I don't really want to dish out $30. I'll see if I can find an alternative. Also Ragnarok would you like the first one to feature your HEAL cannon?

EDIT: problems solved, I found out that I do not need that application (it would have been easier), but I can do without it. So yes if we don't have to much enthusiasm at the beginning a biweekly might be a good start.

*Cough* if you tell me the name of the application I just might happen to have bought it previosuly and have the serial key *Cough*

HEAL would be a great first choice. I'd like to see the SCTBDC, SWAT, and FEAR have an episode of some sort.

And if you run out of ideas, you can always search for threads by JSR...

No. It's dumb, theres not enough content to discuss if the aim chat nights ever taught you guys anything.

Plus, Itunes is retarded. As are ipods.
What about us with other mobile media devices?

Err, all your going to do is talk about a cannon?! F*ck that.

How about...
Something more in the format of a radio show? Just kick around some of the big thread issues that came up in the past week. That'd be really neat if you could get some people on the phone for interviews. Spiked my interest when Joel's name was mentioned for a interview with BigGrib. (didn't materialize...) But we got a few people on the forum that I wouldn't mind hearing ramble. JSR, PCGUY, and maybe some of your Aussie spudders.

Just able to hear are knack for spud related convo in something other then text.

Somebody 18+ to host, some reasonable sound quality, you know. I know a while back there where forum chats, and skype convo's. Those were interesting...

First off, I think it's a great idea but personally I would not be comfortable having my image and voice online in a widely distributed context associated with spudguns. As to which cannons to feature, why not ask PCGUY for a list of the top entries in the last contest?
