I'm surprized he hasn't said anything about this....yet. Specaily about confusion on who is talking to who lol. As far as I can tell the forum has been very calm lately. Thats a good thing. 8)

even if they never visited spudfiles what do you think the first google hit would be? just search spud guns and see where where this forums ranks.

give more people help/access to information and see how long it takes for that "offer" to change.

liability issues are off the chart with anything that is potentially dangerous and children are involved.

take your forum and build it up to where it is the only result in google and tell us how it goes when "something" happens.

I didn't know that the ATF would actually classify a spudgun, thats pretty cool...I wonder how the ATF would classify FEAR? haha.

It seems like we continue to revolve around the same reason for there not being pyrotechnic discussions here. This is a spudgun site, plain and simple, and risking the wealth of the knowledge here for pyrotechnic discussions because of liability doesn't seem like such a hot idea.

It's like the saying, "the nail that sticks out gets hammered". The more we put spudfiles in controversial areas, the more likely it will get kicked down to the ground eventually by stupid people. Play it safe, keep what works.

Also Aussie are bringing in optional internet censorship, so if your parents decide to have it, spudfiles could be censored if someone posts something along pyrotechnic themes.

Well, each blockade on the internet can be passed, so even if your parents would like to censor anything with guns (and spudguns!) you should just google for some tool to get past it.
Or use a proxy.

I state again that pyrotechnics on this forum is a bad idea. I'm interested in them, I like when things go boom, but not here.

I think also that this isn´t good because this forum is very large and with a second part the forum perhaps become full with trash and people who want to learn somethink about pyrotechnik and will ask one questons after the other.

In my opinion there are enough Pyrotechnik boards on internet.

Yeah but proxy's are a b|tch, and I would guess they would use a similar censorship to what my school does, which blocks keywords too, so proxy's usually don't work.

One time I tracked the proxy I was using at school down on google earth.
Turns out I was routing data through a small train station just outside Mexico city; over 1,000 miles away.
I probably pushed 10 gigs through it over a couple weeks, and they didn't have a clue.

Sorry for being late, however school has started back up now so school + work = little free time.

You need to remember that if anyone learns anything dangerous from the site and it goes wrong, it's PCGUY that will have to handle any legal messes, and he's already risking enough of those with just a spud cannon site - asking him to host information on pyro as well is too much.

This is spot on. I personally would love to let people safely venture into solid propellants here on SpudFiles, however the ATF will (and does) classify any cannon that uses any type of solid propellant as an illegal firearm. Since I am in the US, and this website is hosted in the US, it would be very easy for this site to be shut down because I would be providing a place to discuss the manufacture of illegal firearms. One could go as far as saying I am allowing "terrorists" to be trained on SpudFiles.

Trust me, we don't need this on SpudFiles. In this day in age I am risking enough having SpudFiles online. The post above that shows the ATF's website on classifying potato cannons (which is VERY cool and new to me) means that the ATF knows about spud cannons and have probably been on SpudFiles before. Hopefully as long as SpudFiles keeps a safe and legal image, it will be able to stay around.

As I've said, I'm completely fine with no pyro on spudfiles.
I won't launch anything that might explode in the barrel for fear of wrecking my (pretty expensive) cannons, and also I don't want solid propellants. I've mixed enough things in my life to know what damage they can do, containing that is just trouble.

For now, insane air pressure is much better. It's much easier to contain, and much less of a legal mess. (Also, I've never run out of ingredients for my pneumatic propellant and had to go online to order another batch - it's also safer to store)
