As everyone knows "Pyrotchnic" relations on the SF forum is a big conteversy of if it should be allowed on the forum or not. Abviously many people havve posted topics on it, and asking questions about it, nd have found out its not allowed on the forum becuase lack of Rules "over veiwing". I have lost interest in making cannons beuase the sheer plainess it came to be to me. This happens to many other big SF names, im not one of them, but I was a big fuss when I first joined the forum, whoever remebers that knows it wasn't pleasant, but it definatly straitend up my internet "manners" which I had lost thanks to the pbnation forum, I was a previous member of beofre joining SF.

Anyways back on topic, I had imediatly turned to pyrotechnics after losing my interest in making cannons. Or I guess in my case "Cannon Creating". I made much more talk then walk since I had only actually completed 3 cannons. Although 2 of them being a high budget project. It wound up being to much fuss, and time for me to bare. The reason I turned to pyrotechnics was becuase it happend to be a dream of mine to be able to make fireworks at home, and watch other people, and me enjoy them. I have made hindred of dollars through pyrotechncis, and it has wound up paying for itself.

I am planning on opening a interent fireworks shop/display showing my companies fireworks. I plan on it taking a few years to start the company, as I have ust started high school and want to enjoy it. Becuase believe it or not pyrotechncis is not time consuming even when your making money off of it.

The reason I posted the topic is to bring up the idea as many other users do about why we should safely and slowly bring pyrotechncis to the forum. My idea is to have pyrotechnics be allowed as a "Firing" method of using cannons. Using Granulated black powder aka lift powder in very small amounts, and only if they are going to be used in thick steel piping, with an open end on one side which will "discoruage" the idea of a pipe bomb.

And rules against at all talking about making "bombs", using big amount of pyrotechncis compostion, or using not safe steel piping as a gun be against forum rules. Also not allowing any talk about anything but Black powder, which can eaily be made at home, with 3 chemicals, then granulated with a mesh screen, and water, into "Granulated" black powder which is used as "lift Powder" that is used as a propelling objects in pyrotechincs, and very small amounts need to be used in luanching objects. U can also pack small amouns of black powber to luanch objects, if done correctly.

But allow talk, and posting of cannons using reasoanbly safe amounts of pyrotechnic compostion, using a strong, safe, thick steel piping, luanching un explosize rounds, that fit in the barrel loosly, that dont block the end of the barrel.

Anyways more talk may be needed, althoug I am aware of the other topics about bring pyrotechnics to the forum, but usually not explaning how to do it safely. I added a poll to this topic, please respond to it.

Not sure but I think the reason for PCGUY not wanting black powder discussions on the forum is to help seperate the link between spudguns and firearms.

I'm sure there are a few other reason, but that may be one of them.

Also this is a spudgun forum, want to talk explosives and pyrotechnics go <A HREF="http://roguesci.org/theforum/">here.<a> :)

The problem seems to become this:

Overfuel a spudgun with a gas-based fuel and it won't fire.

Overfuel a spudgun with black powder or something similar with it's own oxidizer, and you blow your head off.

Remember that not everyone will necessarily use small amounts in a thick walled steel chamber with an open backside. When you start to bring in explosives like gunpowder, things can go pear-shaped pretty quickly.

I understand your point, I personaly love pyrotechnics. But with spudguns, the worst injury you'll probably ever recieve is a burn or accidentally shoot yourself (still bad). With pyrotechnics though, it is extremly easy not only to get burned, but also to lose appendages.
Even people with expereince still can not escape the possibilty of getting seriosly hurt.

You make a mistake with a spudgun, you're probably out some cash or you get a minor injury.

You make a mistake with pyrotechnics, you get seriosly hurt, lose a body part, or die.

Both hobbies are dangerous, but with pyrotechnics your much more likely to get hurt, especially when you lack experience.

And I think this is partly why PCGuy wante dto seperate the two.

I love explosives and stuff that go boom, but I had to vote no. Safety and legal liability would be to great.

Personally, I believe that this shouldn't be included simply because of liability and the fact that this is a spud gun website. Furthermore, even though you said that there would be different rules and regulations on the amount use, I don't believe other users will follow that policy. Even if we all know about the right amount and safety, all it takes is one person who says: "look at how much gunpowder I put in my cannon.; there was a huge explosion and pipe flew everywhere" and then the site, as well as the members, is labeled as dangerous and otherwise illegal.
Also, although I am being quite frank, I don't believe that we should change the forum since you "lost interest in making cannons".

Lets not bring solid propelants into the spudgun realm, this si how rules become hazy and some peopel do things that end having this site shut doun or somehting arrother.

No from me.

I support it but this could bring up some legal issues. And some people might end up posting bombs on here... which would be bad

No

There are fairly frequent deaths by people poorly making gunpowder cannons. Often the media will refer to these cannons as spud guns which is clearly wrong if they looked into it. But if we had gunpowder cannons on this site then looking into it would probably just reinforce their assertion that the cannon was a spud gun. The worst possible thing for this hobby would be being associated with "innocent" deaths.

As long as their are idiots there is no such thing safely encouraging the use of solid propellants. As others have said, the saving grace of this hobby is that it is pretty hard to seriously injure or kill yourself even if you are an idiot.

even though i like it when things go boom, i like it more when things go boom really far away from me and everyone else, so no, not only will it begin to classify solid propellant guns as spudguns, the legal liability is just too big, and a disclaimer at the bottom of the page isn't going to be able to protect spudfiles if someone goes and blows themself up, and if you can't find a good pyrotechnics site make one, you seem excited to make a business site, why not a forum, you could do a partnership thing like BCarms and spudfiles, except it would only be you

edit: w00t!!! :!: :!: i got 300 bux :!: :?: time to get a sig :)

What's wrong with RogueSci? They're pretty much run the place like a pack of DR's, but they really know their stuff and have some pretty funny topics, like how to steal an ATM machine, they were being serious and all :D

Mr Crowley you are right in one way: roguesci is better for discussing explosoves etc.
BUT I do want to to tell that they do not have the knowledge of spudguns as we do here.
You would say: for spudguns go here and for black powder stuff go there but the point is people want to combine the two. And they do not know anything good about spud guns.
A black powder based spudgun (aka homemade firearm) is a step up from spudguns and I think there are (a few) people here who are ready for this AND can execute this safely.

We should NOT become a pyrotechnic forum, we want to keep this all legal etc. But we maybe could create a second "stand alone" forum for spudfiles members wich is ruleless.
If this would be created and then that forum would be bothered by legal issues from the police, we will discontinue it. But spudfiles has to stay completely separated from this so that it can continue in the way it always did and shall do.
Till the day I'm dieing, I'll keep them spuddies flying, 'cause I can!

They actually discussed propane and oxygen mixes the other day, and even linked to BurntLatke.

And pysycix I told him to go to roguesci because he said there were no populated pyro forums outside British relm.

Roguesci are quite international like spudfiles, they even have a fellow Kiwi on the boards.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if they knew a similar amount as we did, or at least learn it quick, they were discussing a homemade 1000fps paintball gun the other day too, didn't go very far but they had some ideas. No diagrams though.

I wouldn't be surprised if they came here and fitted right in, most of them know a lot about physics and chemistry, kind of like a bunch of DYI's and SB15's :D

As a fellow member of roguesci.org, you dam well know whats going to happen the first post in for most Spudfiles members. Besides, most Spudfiles members won't even be accepted into the forums there anyway, the owner screens all applications and age is a major player there. They are very strict, you get banned for not capitalizing the letter "I" when refering to one's self.

Spudguns belong here at Spudfiles, and pyrotecnics belong at Explosives and Weapons Forums, a weapon of mass information.

Edit: I voted No, do not bring this type of disscusion here to Spudfiles.
