Spud Dictionary

I would like to propose that we build a dictionary

There are a lot of terms used here and it can be confusing to some of us....myself included.

Like the term "piston valve" yes the valve uses a piston of some sort; but is it a barrel seal or chamber seal?

What exactly is a coaxal?

Some may not know what a QEV is...

Now I know that this is no easy task.... but I think it will simplify discussion and inspire new ideas....there are so many valve types that they need distinction and their own identity.

I made a piston valve is like saying I modded a sprinkler valve! WOW you modded a sprinkler valve.... was it a jar top or conventional top (they require different modd procedures)..... was it an in-line sprinkler or anti-siphon sprinkler...... or one of those weird ones that go IN a pipe?

And when you have a problem with "said" valve we will be able to diagnous it faster. It just makes sence to narrow our vast topics of our simple hobby......

I agree that a dictionary would be extremely helpful on the wiki and on this website... I might just have to create one and add it to the wiki

lol thats the main wiki page...

I think what he means is to have a standard one.... like....

Banana-a tropical plant of the genus Musa, certain species of which are cultivated for their nutritious fruit. Compare banana family.

Turkey-a large, gallinaceous bird of the family Meleagrididae, esp. Meleagris gallopavo, of America, that typically has green, reddish-brown, and yellowish-brown plumage of a metallic luster and that is domesticated in most parts of the world.

etc... I mean the wiki is kinda like that but instead of having seperate pages for each word have a long list... like a cheat sheet to spuddin.

There might be some differences in opinion on some definitions however, for example to the English:
ass1

–noun 1. a long-eared, slow, patient, sure-footed domesticated mammal, Equus asinus, related to the horse, used chiefly as a beast of burden.
2. any wild species of the genus Equus, as the onager.
3. a stupid, foolish, or stubborn person.
While across the pond:
ass2

–noun Vulgar. 1. the buttocks.
2. the rectum.
3. Slang. sexual intercourse.
:D

^^Just like Baked has two meanings.

I like the idea, I've been confused a few times reading the wiki, though a little more searching answered my question, I don't know...

Heres one definition though
Blood: Noun, something that is required to become present during the construction of a project for it to truly be built correctly.

Yes:
cake1

–noun 1. a sweet, baked, breadlike food, made with or without shortening, and usually containing flour, sugar, baking powder or soda, eggs, and liquid flavoring.
2. a flat, thin mass of bread, esp. unleavened bread.
3. JSR, you post enough of your workshop failures on spudfiles.com, don't start including your forays into the kitchen now

I think the first 2 definitions that you gave JSR of cake were incorrect... the 3rd is spot on! hahaha

Well, should we just put a index page on the Wiki, with all the regularly used terms in alphabetical order, and links to the appropriate page?

That's probably the single best solution here.

Someone could just create a main link off the main page on the Wiki to go to a dictionary (which would just be a new Wiki page)
