That is what we are trying to do with this entire system.
Making a bunch of levels for every badge, and making a badge for every conceivable achievement is nice in theory, but we do not need 1001 badges, and things were getting out of hand pages ago...

Here is my idea...

You get your first innovation badge...
Image

2 months later you get your next innovation badge, this one replaces your first one.

Image

2 years after your second one you get a third innovation badge and it would replace your second one.

Now realize I just made these fake badges really quickly and I would obviously make better ones but you get the idea...

I should have thought of that!

David, great way to avoid clutter. It reminds me of the badges representing different cannon types we had a while back, and employed a similar numbering system on. We could actually do this for all badges, in case people want to build 87 different cannons that break the sound barrier :P

exactly... and you dont need to have the same light bulb dude in every single picture.... the higher number you get the cooler you can make the pictures to give people even more incentive to create more innovation creations.

We can give Mr. Bulb a single light ray coming off for ever achievement badge earned. :D

build 87 different cannons that break the sound barrier
Now that would call for a badge in and of itself.

I think that there is always somebody writing a response to this topic, and by the time it is posted, there is something else for them to respond to...

lol I like how he already has a name... Mr. Bulb... hahahaha

Even if spudfiles in general decides not to implement the badge system I will still probably make some badges for everyone to implement into their signatures.

Everybody involved in the discussion is keeping a close eye on it. The view count still far out weights the post count! I bet this has been the fastest growing thread of all time. Mr. Bulb, I like it! It fits well with innovation.

the "fun password riddle game" thread is the fastest growing

but yeah you can see how quickly these things can be pumped out.

Okay... so this badge idea is quite working out now, but...

How are we going to assign badges to people?
A special badgeteam wich can be handled in requests for badges?

What are the rules?
Does a x J energy output on GGDT mean that you have achieved that velocity, or is a video of a chrony and projectile weighing needed?

Are we only going to reward innovative badges?
I think that would ruin some of the fun.
I understand that a "power" achievement is awarded by spending money on something big, but its still fun to do so.
Just to show that you have done "it", and that it gives people a reason to build guns.
Its awesome to achieve stuff.

The innovative badges would mostly be awarded for loading and fueling mechanisms and (semi) automatic stuff. Maybe a new valve.
A thing like "the first hybrid" is a breakthrough that cant be done again. We are on the limit of power. We can only advance in automatic stuff.

A 2" bore 10x hybrid piercing a thick steel plate might not be innovative, but its amusing to see right?
