Instead of a rep system, I would prefer an achievements or badges system.
Badges as a reward for example:
A badge for having built and posted at least one of a type of cannon (combustion, pneumatic, hybrid, cloud etc.)
A badge for having built and posted a cannon with more then a specific amount of kinetic energy.
A badge for having penetrated some x material (like steel plate) or a coin.
A badge for having achieved a specific distance
A badge for breaking the sound barrier
And more.

This would surely make people build and post cannons, to get more badges.
It would be cool to build a gun with a mission, and the amount of badges someone has shows off what he can do.
Till the day I'm dieing, I'll keep them spuddies flying, 'cause I can!

That sounds like a cool idea. The 'badges' could be displayed under your SpudBux. I was on a forum with a similar system back in my online 'Day Of Defeat' days.

I know the perfect place where these badge icons could be placed for other people to see yet not as distracting...

and you could click on the peoples different badges and see the different cannons, etc. under that category that they've made/posted.

And I wouldn't mind making the badges (would actually love to) if I have permission to do so.....

any objections?

I do think badges would be better than the rep system. It may be a little work on PCGUY's part, but I'll help with whatever I can.

I think it would be better as far as respect goes. The only question: I know you guys spoke of a clean slate, but would past launchers count towards the badges, example, clide's semi-auto.

I think it would be better (and easier on PCGUY's part) If people could organize what cannons of there's goes under what badge through a sort of file system when you click on the badge...

you click on a certain badge and a listing of all that persons cannons (under that category) shows up with links going to that topic.

I would also be happy to help all i can (currently working on the badges)...

O-K. Done! I've created the icons for the different badges, and have decided to place them under the "spudbux" of your account description when viewed inside a topic. I made two different designs though....and would like your input on what one you like/what i should do differently to make it better...

They are labeled 1 & 2. tell me what you think. hope ya'll enjoy!

I love the badge idea, I think it would be quite cool.

I was thinking I could just make another badge that forwards you to a listing of all the achievements divided into different categories, rather than a bunch more badges...just 1 more...?
