anyone else here annoyed by some of the ads that have sound on this website?

There is one that says I am the 1,000,000th viewer or something like that and every 3 seconds or so it beeps. drives me nuts. I know I could turn the volume off but I like to listen to music when on the web.

a few questions?

1. Does PC guy have a say in what adds go here and what the adds contain?

2. Is there a way to mute the adds while still listening to my music?

3. ummmm... has this been discussed before? I couldnt find a thread on it...

You can adjust your browser to block pop-ups.
I never see/hear any ads with music?

 Maybe it's bad to suggest and they're a neccessary evil?
But it seems like you need to adjust your browser. 8)

Same here, I never see any ads or hear them. The only ads I see are at the top of the page and they don't catch my attention so i'm not complaining.

Like THUNDERLORD said you probably need to block any pop-ups or something. Though I doubt PCGUY would allow pop-ups.

Could be a virus on your computer?

If you are viewing multiple pages on different tabs, you could be confusing the sound made by popups from another site, because not only have i never heard a popup on here, but i don't think i've seen one that says you are the 1,000,000th visitor

btw, does anyone know how many users there are?

thats really strange. I know its not another browswer window or a popup.

So nobody here gets this ad below but me?

Keep in mind I am not too upset by it, it is annoying and all, but now I am trying to sort it out....

the beeps dont come up unless this add is up top of my page.....

Never seen it before. It's not a google ad, i'm pretty sure PCGUY only allows google ads, which are always relevant to the site. E.G plumbing or hydraulics etc.

well thats wierd. I get it like every 20th time or so. it doesnt hinder anything like connection speed, just beeps and annoys. I usually get around it by refreshing the page anyways, just wondering if there was a way to maybe mute internet explorer or something like that...

okay, there is a really easy way to rid yourself of this, myspace had them so i found a program to remove ads... get firefox, then search google for "firefox addon ABP" or "ad block plus" you have to add sites whose ads you want to block, but if you do some searching sites have huge list of advertisers... i didnt even know this page had ads until this post

Ad block plus for firefox IS THE BEST.
Go to firefox add ons and search, but its probably in the "most downloaded" secton. Its really good, you right click the add and click "Adblock image" and it dissapears for the rest of your life.
It doesnt work on animations though, which are the worst ones that flash crazily and give you epilectick seizures

How weird, ive never experienced something like this.
Is your pc spyware-free?

Try a different browser, and maybe install some ad-blocker plugin.
There are thousands of good plugins for firefox.

btw: Hey cool, I can see myself on that screenshot :D

Without knowing the proper cause, switching to another browser is a poor idea. Don't follow the advice of members suggesting such.

Last year BitDefender identified a trojan(Trojan.Qhost.WU) that hijacked your hosts file. This will affect every browser out there. It is basically redirecting google ads to the ones you are seeing.

Update your anti-virus and let it remove it.

Switch to Firefox because it has greater tools than IE. AdBlockPlus is one of many.
