Yes, everyone knows the price is high, but he is supporting this site and they have some pretty cool customizable features.

There's actually quite a few customized parts being offered with these kits. The offset barrel/chamber plugs, the mounting rings, pistol grips etc. don't design/build themselves. Much time, effort and $$$$ goes into design, tooling up and manufacture not to mention marketing and advertising. Plus, one doesn't go into a biz like this to just give the stuff away...profit is desired and deserved. This is how we put bread on the table.

To expect someone to sell upscale, relatively small production run units like this for the price of materials simply isn't realistic. Also, I don't believe the real market for these would be most of us hardcore cannon builders....rather guys (usually older) who have the money but no desire or the time to build their own. I know dozens of people off the bat this might appeal to.

$89 for a barrel offset kit, that rediculous seeing as I can get a piece like that from my local plumbing store for under $5.

Don't buy it from USG then! The fact is that he's keeping himself afloat, and giving to us too. He can charge wha he wants but at the end of the day, if the money's coming in, then that's good for us. I think by now he knows there are very few people already on this site who'll buy one, but I don't think they looked at all out of place for $1000 at a gun show.

Edit: sorry, upon re-reading that sounds a bit rude, but you get the point.

Can you post a pic of that? I think I've seen those before but I don't think we have them available here.

On our barrel offset fore we have a recess in the lower area for a vent tube that runs to the breech opening which allows spent gas evacuation/fresh air replacement between shots.

Cheers,

If you search through the combustion gun section It's listed as "step back in time cannon" or something similar.

True, that offset plug isn't available in the US at all...common in Europe and Australia apparently. Plus, as well as I can figure the cannon configuration, that hole is a full feed through (thus the coaxial breach loading) and not just a standard socket joint. Also, 5" parts are rare indeed except from pipe distributor and specialty shops.

After looking around, I'm going to say that USG is tailored to a different audience than alot of us on the forum are, (I find we are more DIY type), and that's the end of it.

I loved the website and the products, alot of it is ingenius things such as the offset mounting thing.

If people are going to pay the price (which there always will be people who will) then they will get an excellent, high quality product.

And that's the end of it in my opinion. The guy's running a business, and I respect him for that.
