How Are We [As Moderators] Doing?

So, how are we doing?

Are you satisfied with the job the moderators are doing?

How is our response time when you ask for help?

I've all ways been interested in moderator/member relations so I'm asking. Please keep to the point and if you have any questions as all ways feel free to ask.

Thanks,
jrrdw.

A great job, i cant think of anything that needs improvement. Then again iv never really needed any help from a mod, but response time of doing something bad was quicker than 911 call about a black guy with a gun in the park

We've had our disagreements jrrdw, and while you will usually err on the side of caution in regards to closing threads, the problems haven't been big.

Infact moderators should be given more powers. They should at least be given a ban ability to clean up spammers quickfast. If it's abused, obviously pcguy would come down like a ton of bricks.

When it comes to response speed and the will to help I have good experience with Jrrdw. I was impressed how fast you cleaned out the double post's in my hybrid thread after I asked.

You might be a bit quick to lock threads but it is okay. Sometimes that is what we need.

I haven't really asked the others for a lot of help since Jrrdw is the one that seems to be online the most.

The mods are doing well. I ask you and MrC questions pretty often and it doesn't take long to get back with an informative response or to point me in the right direction.

SpudFiles is one of the best run forums I have participated in. I can not recall any significant problems I've had with the administration here.

Admittedly, I'm not around as much as I could be, but I am happy with what the administration has done so far.

On another forum I frequent, the moderators are subject to meta-moderation where users look at posts that are moderated and then the moderation is scored fair or unfair. This feedback is used to raise or lower the moderators privileges.

For example if a moderator bans a spammer, users would not know who the moderator was, but meta-mods (given out randomly to users with limited votes) and could be used to for example increase a good moderator and limit the damage of a bad moderator.

This can be used to advance a good moderator to include the ability to immediately suspend a user, delete the spam posts, etc, but if abused and thus meta moderated as unfair several times, the moderator can and should lose moderation privileges altogether.

This keeps moderators in line.

I know some of us have had issues with jrrdw, but as mentioned before, the issues have been minor and infrequent. Most of his mods would have been meta-moderated fair, so even with a few disagreements, he would still be regarded as an excellent moderator.

If you never do anything wrong, you are not doing anything at all. The more you do, the more things you will do wrong. That is life. The more you do the more you do right.

jrrdw, keep up the good work. You are one of the most active moderators I have seen. I hope you get ban spammer privileges soon.

All of you are doing a wonderful job as moderators. I am rarely on here anymore, but when i was active, you guys did amazing. whenever i had a problem, you would respond in a timely manner, and problems always get solved. Keep up the good work.

Although IMHO jrrdw locks too many threads, :D

I don't post much on Spudfiles anymore, mostly because I haven't found anything worth posting on and I've been rather busy with the rest of my life recently. I do agree that jrrdw locks a lot of threads... but I don't recall any thread where I would have taken issue with the lock.

I say the moderators are doing an excellent job of taking care of the forums, but a ban privilege would be well-deserved for spammers, but not really required. When I see a new thread listed with one or no replies and it's locked, I usually assume it's pointless to read and ignore it.

Congratulations to the currently active moderators on a forum well-moderated.

To be fair to jrrdw, he is the most active American moderator and will probably be first-on-scene in terms of lockable topics. The most active period on the forum is probably when I am sleeping, therefore I'm not the one locking the topics. Another thing is that a lot of these locks are in the NSGRD section where there is a thin line between acceptable topics and topics that belong over at Theopia.

Also, I do delete some topics which have absolutely no place on the forum (someone asking members to play some online game comes to mind) whereas jrrdw may only lock the topic. Just gives the impression he might be some topic-locking-nazi compared to the other moderators.

If anyone ever has a problem with a moderator, PM another moderator or PCGUY. Also, any website or forum problems/errors, please send a PM to PCGUY and not a moderator as we can't do anything about it.

You know, some forums have moderators who are best labeled 'jack-booted thugs'.

And some have moderators that are way too lenient.

MANY have moderators who play favorites.......

But I can't say any of that about the moderators here.

Doods !! Yer doing great !

:D

Hey MrCrowley, you wanna play some online Diablo2 ?
