The (2nd) SMALLEST Combustion on this Site
i guess if you break the match and somehow attach it to the cannon itself for a 1 time shot kinda deal....that would work

Hey guys, these things are gargantuan compared to what is possible. Here's how. These are easy to do...
Take a single bicycle spoke, unthread the tension nut on one end to expose maybe a 3/16" to 1/4" deep hole (chamber) in the end of it. Mash as much of a red phosphorus matchhead material into the tiny chamber as you can get. Then take a bird shot BB (regular BBs will be too big) and cram into the very end, covering the match material. It should fit snug. You can cut as much of the wire spoke off as you want....if your looking to break size (length) records, almost all of it. In practice you would want to leave some on as a holder.
You're ready to fire. Aim the prepped end toward the firing zone and hold an open flame under the spoke nut filled with the match and shot. These will shoot 50-100' on a good load. Loads of fun.

basically a miniature cannon. I didn't see anything in there about using combustible gas as fuel, unless im just not seeing it.starman wrote:Hey guys, these things are gargantuan compared to what is possible. Here's how. These are easy to do...

The fuel is a simple matchhead, no gas involved.sthorne wrote:basically a miniature cannon. Thats my point. The crushed up match head is basically the replacement of gun power, and the bb is replacing the cannon ball.starman wrote:The fuel is a simple matchhead, no gas involved.sthorne wrote:basically a miniature cannon. You got it. We used to use a bic lighter the heat the end until it shot...I would go for a small propane torch for my heater these days. We used to try to shoot crawdads in the bottom the creek with these things.sthorne wrote:Thats my point. But the whole point of this post is for Combustion Spud Guns.starman wrote:You got it. Well this IS combustion, just not gas combustion. Hey, just throwing the idea out there.
Without precision measuring devices your micro gas combustion is going to become very difficult...as you are already experiencing.
