Have any of you combustion fans seen the igniter in the end cap before? Look at this- Link 1

Not a bad price if you don't have a way to get the stuff yourself.

Just seen this as well- Link 2

What the heck is a fire kite?

It's something you make out of newspaper and tape that you light on fire and it floats up in the air.

The lighter in the cap is a BAD idea. the cap is weak enough as is and you are only making it weaker.

yep, I think I've seen a sparker in a clean out plug before. It seems like it would be in a uncomfortable place to grip it.

I recommend that you DON'T put your BBQ igniter in the end cap or anywhere IN the chamber.

You're just asking to have it come flying out and hit you.

Bbqs in the end cap are bad news.
Once while ramming a spong down my barrel the igniter went off and there must had some fumes left because it launched my pipe out and almost took my hand with it.

As Franrede said, having the ignotior installed in the end cap is quite dangerous. Since we are so accustom to setting our cannons on the end cap while loading, storing, etc. That is the main reason I would not install a BBQ clicker in my endcap. As well as others have stated of both it weaking the end cap and also in the event of the cap coming off, your hand is right there.

not a good idea at all, these ebay sellers never make it selling cannons cause ebay removes spud gun listings, ask that moron crazy chris b or whatever his name is.

anyone selling a cannon with a bbq ignitor mounted in the endcap is a fool who must be asking to get sued. its totally unsafe, uncomfortable to shoot and will probably take a chunk of your hand off after

Besides why would you buy a cannon off someone who wouldnt even follow safe procedures? this guy obviously has little experience with spud guns and wants to make a quick dollar or two while risking their customers safety.

Yea, i thought it was pretty wacked out! Me, i'm a pneumatic man myself. When i typed potato cannon in the ebay search i really didn't think i was going to get any results back, surprized me. So i had to ask, wanted to know what you all thought of it. I never thought about the igniter becomeing a projectile, or when loading it, a missfire happening, good point!

You could also put your ammo in first, in stead of the propane, or whatever you use.

It does't matter. The risk of there being excess fuel in the chamber makes that procedure null.

The ignitor in the cap does almost nothing to the strength of the cap. And those aren't really as weak as you people assume.

The main reason to keep the ignitor off the chamber wall is as Pimp said, It's dangerous because we could set the gun down and it could spark. In fact I've done it.

Mods, the auctions lead to by the links are over, in another 20 or so days the links wont work, but i like how the topic has changed to safty discustion. So if you want to get rid of this thread to make room for something else, thats cool with me, if you want to change the nature to the safty issue thats allso fine, i'll leave it up to you's. Flip a coin if you want. Signing off this one, jrrdw.
