Long time no see. Haven't posted here in about a year. Seems like I have a habit of checking in every year or so. Still not much spudgunning on my end, just figured I'd say hey again.

In the past year I've stayed married, done some paintball (yet another Allied victory at D-Day Oklahoma), got the wife into paintball, replaced my S&W M&P .40c with a Kimber 1911, got a free guitar and fixed it (split neck, I'll post pics later maybe), moved from an apartment to a rent house, adopted a German Shepherd named Kilo and have been putting together a bug-out bag for the house and emergency kits for both our vehicles. No, I haven't done much work to my Jeep in the last year, other than maintenance. Not enough money, but that should be changing soon.

Oh, and I took up krav maga. That's fun stuff.

So how's you guys doin?

Glad to see ya old man L0L! It has been a while. I thought about you just yesterday when I chucked the rest of my pancakes out the back door for the farm dog and a rabbit was checking it out, it didn't wear it for a hat though...Then Chester made his rounds and chased the little guy off.

So what's the man-cave/shop like in the new home? Can you fit your Jeep in there or what!

Better get to building a cannon.....I sense a 'One-Shot' contest coming on soon.

Well, we're not sure how long we'll be there so I really haven't set up a shop. Keeps me from doing many projects. I'll probably have a little extra play money laying around here pretty soon though, so we'll see what happens on that front.

The man-cave, if you can call it that, is pretty nice. I'll see about getting pictures up. I have my computer corner in the living room, hooked up to my TV on the mantle.

But we also have a spare bedroom that contains a pull-up bar, an exercise ball (the weighted kind, not the yoga kind), a kettlebell, a heavy bag and some workout mats - and my guitar stuff sits over in another corner. Like I said though, I don't know if you can call it a man cave because she uses it just as much as I do. We take krav maga together and have our own workout routine we do at home with the heavy bag. Let me tell you, I can beat her, but that doesn't mean she can't throw a punch!

Yeah I had a "brief" hiatus myself. Kinda funny that jrrdw mentioned pancakes, I thought of ya the other day when I came back here and had pancakes that evening.

The pancake bunny seems to be my defining feature here. Ah, I found it! There was a time here, back in the day, when a trend started with people changing their avatars to cats. I changed mine, and was met with demands that I change it back.

The bad news you may not be awear of is that A-98 overdosed and died. http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/rest-in ... 22280.html

Theopia has since gone away due to the massive amounts of spammers and lack of members.

I did hear about A-98. Very sad to hear about that one.

As for Theopia, PCGuy actually closed that down the day I made the decision to email him suggesting he do just that. It got hardly any traffic and was full of spammers. I was going to email him and suggest he take it down rather than let it become a proving ground for spammers everywhere, and he apparently read my mind.

Welcome back paaiyan, long time no see

It's coming up on a year since I last fired my big guns so you're definitely not the only one who's quietened down a bit. I still hang around here and check in every day though, nice to see what's going on.

Your avatar always reminded me of the image sgort87 put on the home page when he found out how to post messages on it :D
Was it the same picture? I remember it involved a small furry animal with a pancake or pikelet.

Not saying that correlation implies causation, but...

In other news, I've changed my pro landrover/anti jeep stance somewhat ;)

It's been a while since I attempted anything serious as far as this hobby goes also. Instead I've found myself perusing much cheaper hobbies (drafting house plans, barefoot running, piddling with Arduino/analog, etc.).

Glad to hear you're doing good. Theopia's where I hung out up 'til 2010. :p

The lack of money for certain projects is due to me spending it on other things. We're renting a three bedroom house, for instance. Gives us lots of room for an office and workout room. I also spent a pretty penny on that Kimber I mentioned. And a nice camera. So it's not so much a total lack of money so much as it just being spent on other things.

You guys can jab at me all you want for being married, but I got a winner. She shoots, she paintballs, she does Krav Maga, she likes my Jeep. We have a heck of a good time being married.

And Jack, I see you took a liking to one of the favorite American pastimes, obscenely large and powerful engines.

If you're genuinely happy, then I'm glad for you :)

Yup.

Though I have to say, they're only obscenely large if you look at them from a snooty socialist European perspective. In North American eyes, it's perfectly normal.

My wife enjoys it. I carry my Kimber and she carries a Kahr 9mm, but I'm slowly convincing her she likes 1911s better.

I do like Kimbers, but I don't think I'd ever want to carry one. Just feel there are more practical .45ACP options, but then again I have a relatively wimpy S&W Bodyguard for carry... for when we're able to here.

Eh, what do I know, we still don't even have concealed carry yet. :?
