The Un-Official List of Merits

Unread postAuthor: deathbyDWV » Fri Jan 15, 2010 10:09 pm

Merits are for everyone to put in their signature. They can show how far you've come as a spudder. They can also make a challenge, you could even try for them all!

You can discuss whether you've earned one in the comments of your showcased cannon.

All of these should be proven in the showcase.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Air Head- showcased a pneumatic cannon
Hairspray King- showcased a combustion cannon
Moar Power- showcased a hybrid cannon
Sprayer- showcased a BBMG
Big Bore- +3 inch bore
Tree Bowling- +6 inch bore
Action- Built a bolt action, revolving, lever, or pump action
Semi- Built a semi auto
Full- Built a full auto (not BBMG)
Plywood Puncher- Shot through a 1/2 inch of plywood
Going the Distance- Shot over 1/4 mile
Touchdown- Shot over 1/2 mile
Sound Breaker- Shot over mach 1
Here Comes the Boom- Shot over mach 2
If someone will make pics I'll post them with each merit.
Please tell me what should be added, taken away, or name changed.
Although your intentions are good, this seems like another one of those ideas which is going to fizzle out and amount to very little. The community is small enough that such designations are hardly necessary, and unlikely to be used.
Also, while any of these individually would be relatively simple, it occurs to me that a 7" bore 600+m/s hybrid with select-fire capabilities from bolt action to full-auto would be mighty awesome :lol:
Well, me and some others think it'll be cool. Maybe it will fizzle out... Hopefully not. To keep this from fizzling out i planned to add new ones as time passes.
Also, I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic but they are supposed to be relatively simple. Each can be obtained on a different cannon.
DYI is correct; I wouldn't expect this to last for too long (If it catches on at all). There have been many members over the years who have attempted to force start trends like this, and as of right now, none of them are in use. I have nothing against your idea, but I just don't see it working out.
I'm 8/14 on that list; 9/14 if you include non-standard spudgun propellants. :D
You could do it as a badge under your avatar. That'd be neat. have the pics of each merit underneath your "rank". It could work. It may mean a little more work for our moderators/computer-savvies, though. We couldn't have just anyone putting checks by badge names.
chinnerz plays games, and one part of playing games for me is belonging to a clan, i have helped build 2 websites and for one of them we ended up doing something very similar to this.... within 2 weeks nobody cared about it any more... srsly wasn’t worth the effort.
However we did use the ranks, and we also ended up changing the stars to different medals if you are planning on doing this i recon that was the easiest way to do it.
Wasn't meant like that.
The whole idea smells like MW2.
Besides, I play on PC and IW fucked it up.
The hole idea smells
:lol:
The whole hole smells? really...??
Airhead-Sprayer-Big Bore-Action-semi-full-plywood puncher-Going the distance- Touchdown...multiple times..
That would look pretty stupid in my sig...
And would a hybrid I never fired count???
If we were to appoint stars for every cannon built and every achievement ...I would run out of sig-space... :D
Furthermore it doesn't mean any of them were any good...
It would be better if fellow spudders could just give you points for your contributions.
x2 :)
Add a "point" to someones ranking when you feel they deserve it. Rankings would then have actual meaning (hopefully) directly relating to experience/knowledge level.
Might put a stop to the occasional "post whore" trying to run up a ranking as well.
Just my .02
But, how would the newbies recognise my ( :D ) genius then...
all my stuff is in the past...
Oh that's right...
the moderator thing.. 8)
Just kidding
I'm not sure if this peer ranking is even possible...
"What's wrong with being arrogant when you're right"
Stop kissing my B-hind. :D
But while I'm already considered to be arrogant..more about ME:
The suggestion in the first post puts Shatterhand at the same level as any solenoid cannon with a breechcover...
( I'm really not this arrogant BTW)
Furthermore it doesn't mean any of them were any good...
I mean...peer ranking is much more representative...provided everyone ranks everyone fairly and seriously.
It could become a way of bashing new guys or helping out friends..
Nothing really but it might irritate some people... BUT I know lots of guys who are wrong about some things and then they are arrogant about it too, that is the type of person that irritates me
