All very good advise.

I will add a drill and tap chart, might be an idea to save it or print it out. Reference materials always come in handy.

Flash: Very nice animations. 8) From the piston face rearward; teflon sealing face, u-cup seal (buna), nylon sleeve (to eliminate possible scoring), an eraser as a bumper (the only material that passed my hammer test  ). The piston itself is machined from 1045 steel and has been hollowed out an...

It seems as though you are assuming friction to be the major force involved in moving the o-ring.

I tactfully disagree and withdraw from further posting on this subject.

Hawkeye: The o-ring moves with the piston. Pressure is non-selective, it does not care what it is pushing against. The o-ring is moved with the piston by the pressure differential created when venting the pilot volume. It is the same in your pump. The higher pressure side "pushes" toward the lower p...

I can see that drastically reducing pilot volume. Still kind of complicated to build, but sound in theory.

My idea of a high efficiency piston.

There are several sizes and lengths. If you can't find them, just ask at the parts counter. Take your ammo with you to get the right size.

According to an interview with John Bokett (not by me, I read it), if your ball (marble) makes solid contact with the lands of the rifling, it will spin enough for excellent accuracy. You have already proven this to yourself. That being said, the surface finish on the marbles that I have seen was sh...

Candaian tire should have it or should be able to get it. Also check your phone book, NAPA, Bumper to bumper, etc. should all have brake lines.

I'm curious; If you guys can make a groove for an o-ring, why don't you use a u-cup seal? No need for an equalization hole or check valve. They are wear compensating. The greater the pressure differential, the better they seal. Your piston would work very much like a qev, and built from suitable mat...

Thanks for the response. I'm using a 36" barrel, rigidity isn't too much of an issue, it's steel. My project: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/high-pressure-co-ax-progress-update-t12803.html Ok, can we call that 1 vote for 1/3 chamber length from the piston face? Anyone else with a thought on this? E...

I am planning something similar to what psycix referred to. My question is where to put the stabilizers? At the moment, I am thinking about 1/3 of chamber length away from the piston face. Closer to the piston would yield better stability, but would it hurt flow? :? And so, tongue in cheek, I ask yo...

There is a product used to seal gasoline tanks that you might consider. It is a liquid, you pour it in and roll the tank around to coat the inside. Then pour out the excess. It works on gas tanks very well. There are several "brands", so check with you local motorcylce shops, and/or auto parts stores.

I used to know a girl that had a pet rabbit, she called it "stew". Don't know what happened to him, he just disappeared one day! :P

Your airgun works very well, like the camo paint job too!

Good job! :)

No really, he just ran away!
