Re: At a loss here... Pressurizing my cannon

And it works! Just shot a rolled up washcloth at almost 20 bars! Made the cannon jump up quite a bit too :D It fills the very small pilot in a snap, but the chamber just takes for ever tho... It would awesome to find 2 exact same compressors and hook them up together for twice the filling speed. Ma...

Re: Modeling software for CNC (Mach3)

Hey guys. Not much fun with cambam, doesn't seem to allowing me to have a rotary action (from a 4th axis) Gonna try pirate mastercam but I'd appreciate a little more feedback on the subject, am I the only one here with a machine running on Mach3? Some CAD programs (especially the real ones like Sie...

Re: 'O' ring use for sealing pistons etc.

It is fairly common to make the O ring excessively deep, creating intentional clearance (called a floating o-ring). In this case, the The OD of the o-ring should be slightly larger than the ID of the cylinder. The air forces the O-ring into the corner of the groove and the wall of the cylinder, seal...

ermm... beg pardon? He is invoking the most commonly cited section of the bible used by christians to justify discrimination against homosexuals. In doing so, he is jestfully claiming that not ANY orientation is correct according to this section and it is implied that the incorrect orientation is h...

Posted a while back about the racecar I had a hand in building... Anyway here's the [more] finished product at FSAE-A, we placed 5th from 26 entries, and would have been in contention for third place had a leaky fuel cap not cost us time in the tilt test. http://i.imgur.com/4AwB773.jpg Ground clear...

Re: Best (or cheapest and easiest) way to regulate a 20oz CO

The other thing to consider is that the Palmer regs are often quite touchy with regard to adjustment. I have found mine to be stable over time and temperature (including when I frosted it up rapid firing the large cannon), but a slight change in the position of the screw might well be 40+ PSI. due t...

Re: Best (or cheapest and easiest) way to regulate a 20oz CO

I got a palmer pursuit regulator on eBay for about $25. I also got a paintball remote line and some high pressure hose for $15, and a harbor freight pressure regulator for $5. The palmer regulator regulates it down to about 150 PSI, then I adjust the HF reg for the desired pressure. Flow through the...

I beg to differ. It seems in the US, it is the POLICE who "attack you for no apparent reason, get away with it and you're forked because the assumption will be that you must have attacked [them] or something" http://benswann.com/cops-spray-womans-vagina-with-mace-to-punish-her-after-drug-arrest/ Oh...

If you have a set of data, is there a reason you can't just do a spline fit? I have fit high dimensional tabular data using a small neural network.

I have no doubt :) His restraint is truly admirable, and I'm glad the response is overwhelmingly in this guy's favour. It's just so annoying that many cases of supposed police brutality towards a woman turns out to be caused by her either kicking or grabbing their nuts or attacking them physically ...

Re: Piston Hybrids, a couple of questions

If I recall, both of the 2" piston hybrids built "recently" vent the pilot with what is essentially a quick dump valve attached to the piston. I believe that they do use some kind of equalization hole, but probably a check valve as well. So although there might be a stoicheometric air/fuel ration be...

Re: machined APFSDS projectiles

What about a full-bore aluminum (or even lead) foster slug tipped with a long pointy piece of HSS? Perhaps gently glued into a hole in the nose of the slug so as to be able to break off and fully penetrate the target?

Re: machined APFSDS projectiles

I suspect a muzzle brake/flash hider would remove any effects of muzzle blast yawing the projectile. I also suspect that a sightly asymmetric sabot causing an uneven release would really mess things up badly. It could be beneficial to sand/lap the larger of the two halves until they have almost exac...

Re: EMT Electrical Conduit?

I have used 2" EMT on my hybrid up to about 8x. I believe the stuff I have is fairly smooth. There is definitely a visible discontinuity, but I don't think you can feel it much.
