My rifle uses (ugh) a sprinkler valve, a ghastly amount of dead space, and a two foot barrel. 70+ PSI seems to do no damage to the dart, and I bet I could take it to 100. I still haven't tested it properly yet, but I'm gonna! Yessir, gonna do it.... Tonight. After I get done playing TF2. Maybe.

I dunno man, I use tagger darts right now in my rifle and those things stay pretty dang flat at just 70 PSI out of a two foot barrel. It seems to be able to get well over 75'. I'll have to do a conclusive test today. All I know is that I have yet to find a range at which I must tilt the gun to hit s...

Larda already HAS such a projectile. And it looks almost to pretty to shoot. Also, .2 gram BB's are very poor for range. They are used primarily in short range roles. Heavier BB's are used as range is expected to increase, with dedicated, well-funded snipers using rifles meant for .44 gram graphite ...

Effectiveness in its intended role should really be the top priority. A sniper rifle that gets one round every two or three seconds and fails to eject one out of every eight rounds, but puts that round 100' or more downrange with good accuracy, should score higher in total than an assault rifle that...

Check out boltsniper's work on cartridge fed nerf rifles, the FAR and the SCAR-N in particular. Just google boltsniper. Or, wait a few hours until I get home so I can show you mine. It takes about two hours of fabrication to get a working bolt face. I use a brass ejector pin and a bent staple as an ...

Holy shit, man. That is just about the most impressive cannon I have ever seen. With high-quality cannons, it has always been a comprimise between rate of fire and power. Larda made the first 200X capable hybrid. One shot at a time, but what a shot it is. Especially with the tungsten-cored penetrato...

Hmm. It's an interesting idea, and may have applications of those attempting super high pressure guns or high mix hybrids. The main issue is getting a proper seal in your steel pump tube.

Try shells made from thinwall (ex. SDR-21) pipe and attach a rim to the end. I'm using SCH-40 for rimless shells on my nerf rifle.

No, it shouldn't. Take a look at the clear plastic spring pistols next time you go to walmart. Nearly every production uses thish scheme. The sear catch is near the rear of the piston, and the piston tube doesn't need to move far to engage it. There would only be one slit, behind the sealing face of...

The sheer scale of linguistic butchery in this thread tears at my very soul. Anyway, I don't see anything here that says airguns are banned. You should be fine. As for cocking the piston, you could try using a one piece trigger and sear with a tab on the piston to engage the sear, and have the pisto...

man thats pretty nice! :o but i've one question, how much air does a nailer release each time you shoot? (enough to shoot some larger projectiles like bigger nails?) I dont know but the bigger the air tank, the more air it outputs so probably yes! I know that it can work with a blow forward breech....

Haha! I got the allthread, washers, and nuts to turn cartridges on my drill press, and I finished the upgrades to my entry! It's all ready to go, just need a few more new cartridges (Which I have named .550 Long Rifle) and take pics of the new bolt. Good thing I made it a bolt + bolt carrier group, ...

Half mile to one mile range? Sounds like you're building a 75mm howitzer here. I support this wholeheartedly. You're going to need a large chamber (1:1 C/B ratio still applies at this scale) and a very fast valve. If you have access to the tools, a large, lightweight aluminum piston with a large por...

I've done it lazy-mode by using coiled up aluminum foil and a bank of 9-volt batteries. Worked fairly well.

I am despirately searching for a reason to build one just like that. I may decide of building one just because it looks freaking cool.

Interesting..... I do like the design. It is much more nerf-like than what I've got, but what I've got more approaches the n-strike line they have going. A few design modifications and I could challenge the Longshot for rate of fire and magazine capacity. But those are ideas for another day. I have ...
