if you assume the opening is 2" (its most likely a bit bigger) then you have over 3 in^2 of area being acted on, at 70 psi thats over 200 lbs that your bolt or whatever would have to support. JSR could you modify the thread cutting attachment on your lathe to get an incredibly low threads per inch? This could either work for directly boring a rifles or turning grooves into the wax.

I would go for golfball because they're the cheapest. Some one did build softball combustion, Ill see if I can find the link, baseball is probably do-able but youll get better speed, penetration and distance from a golfball.

mill all the mounts haha, I saw someone on youtube, who made cheapish mounts by hand with an easy to machine plastic. Then used the cnc to make nice time consuming aluminum ones.

That would be awesome you should log your conversion so others (namely me) can learn what to do and what not to. Have you looked at getting sherline mounts but sourcing your own steppers and drivers?
