I'm not sure how it works, I had a similar Idea before... maybe it's similar  That's hardly original though is it ;) Patented too... JSR, I doubt Mike mentioned how long it takes to make a cartridge. Suffice to say that the complexity and close tolerances required means a long series of opera...

Darned NICE work! 8) (As per usual of course. :) ) Really liking the N2 powered beasty, and eagerly awaiting the "further details". Kudos to yourself and USGF. Gippeto, Thanks for the kind words. Actually, we've been so busy, I did not have a chance to get involved in the TAC buildup. I had very li...

IMHO, there are 2 basic categories of software packages. The first makes nice images or drawings on the screen or on paper. Dimensions are not really important in these packages, the render quality and ease of use are. Many can make "accurate" parts but that is not what they were designed for. The s...

A lot of old lathe hands told me they liked to work while wearing tattered worn out t-shirts. They must be short sleeved. Now you know why. Too many close calls. Our big lathe is larger than the one in the photos. 12+ horses. It will shred you in no time. Even a tiny machine tool will take chunks of...

JSR,

The rubber might be a good thing. I have tried this in the past. The timing gets bad and the balls get caught in a shearing situation. Balls in shear not good. :P

jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:Cheers :) you were right about the dimensions being wrong, disk O/D should be 1", not 0.75".
we can make a lot of them if needed.

I only need about 3 but who knows, I might start a trend :)
Recall, I got Duane's stuff to do also

Gents, got it. I guess 5.5 tons would make it big.... I did a Cad drawing of the dims and they look like they need to be tweaked. I can also machine a block so the barrels don't twist around the center axis. Yes, we can make a lot of them if needed.

You still think you need 1/2" Lexan to protect the camera? I'm leaning towards a 1/4" first layer and a disposable 1/16" outer layer.....

I have a stock of suitable gears in my spares box - one of the items I look out for when cannibalising something before disposaly - and I think it's reasonably safe to say that copious amounts of epoxy will take care of the rest :D Really though you don't actually need gears, it can be done with le...

Feel free to argue with Alliant Techsystems Inc. ;) it's Chain Gun TM JSR, The old Dillon video called "Machine Gun Magic" showed the internals of a 30mm Chain Gun in motion. It had a double row roller chain actuating what looked like an M16 bolt on steroids. I've not seen that vid any...
