If you use a pipe tap first and then use a bottoming tap, they don't break as often. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tap_and_die You can also use a large chamfer on the hole. Without the small chamfer the tap broke within 5 parts. It ended up splitting the aluminum part! With the large chamfer, the ne...

As tech mentioned about the compression coupling, I came across this company; http://www.kbico.com/index.php?cPath=21_26&sort=5a&page=4 It appears most local hardware stores carry this brand, King Brothers. Ok, I bought one of these and tried it out on a 2" pipe, and it's hard as **** to move! Even...

The kind of tap you want to get is a Cold Forming Bottoming Tap. Like this: http://www.mcmaster.com/param/images/taps/threadform_bright_350x50.gif We were just using 1/8" cold forming taps today. :o That are a real PITA because they break easily... You MIGHT be able to get away with just using that ...

Make sure you go at least 9x20 if you can afford it. You can can them alot cheaper used if you want to try that out. I bought my used with tooling on Craigslist.com for $100! It's a little beat up(On the ways under the chuck), but it still works great, and I could not pass up the price. I used to ha...

Well, my 3" piston uses a homemade check valve, and that seems to do the trick. I have not tried it with a bike pump, but it can fill with almost no flow(I used a air regulator).

Re: I need a favor from anyone who uses HPA or nitrogen tank

How cold is the gas when it exits the tank? That entirely depends on tank volume, tank pressure (or upper and lower extremes at least), tank temperature, chamber volume and chamber pressure. It's possible to calculate reasonably accurately the final chamber temperature with a little maths. However,...

I need a favor from anyone who uses HPA or nitrogen tanks

How cold is the gas when it exits the tank? Specifically, I want to fill through a shrader valve with a chamber volume of 7 gallons.

It would be great if someone could measure the temp of the gas as it exits the fill adapter.

breech loading golf ball barrel questions

I have the SDR21 sleeved in schd80 2" PVC. I was thing of doing a simple breech where I cut a hole for the ball, drop it in, and slide a coupling over it. I have two questions: Do I need a special extra deep coupling, or will a normal one suffice? I'm worried about the strength here. And how do I pu...

Just a heads up for Petsmart ammo

If you go in the cat section they sell mini tennis balls for cats that are a perfect fit for 1.5" SDR21. There only $1 each, and there great for firing straight up since you don't have to worry about them hurting anyone on the way down. And if you go into the regular toy isle they have a 3 pack of m...

What lathe was used on this job?

Sureshot Inc. / http://www.ultimatespudgun.com
Haha, I bet.

We used a Daewoo Puma 240. The bar feeder in the background is for smaller parts since it uses a collet.

Looks solid, but why didn't you put the sprinkler valve on the top? There would be less dead space.
