Thanks for the tips, instructions, and demeaning. Seriously, I appreciate negative criticism. I do appreciate the feedback, but one of the other things that I wanted to make clear is that this design is functioning perfectly well, no audible or otherwise detectable leaks from this area of the gun. I...

2 is a winner. IIRC, all piston hybrids on this site use that concept. Some use a pop-off on the pilot to release the air behind it, but mine compresses the pilot to get an air-spring type effect, so I don't need a substantial bumper. Yah, i'm starting to notice that, and to think I came up with th...

I did some looking around on the forum and now know what i'm talking about in terms of a piston hybrid. The important thing to remember is that they do not use a solid piston, but something that looks like a barbell. This looks like it would be very fragile to me, but it might not be, given the spee...

Finally got it! YAY! Now everyone can see my setup. The measurements are in my first post on this thread, and basically the entire interior of the setup that isn't schrader valve or pipe fitting is hot glue. That's how it's holding together. Good to what pressure? It holds perfectly well to 160 psi,...

Not sure how the one that you posted works, chinnerz. I don't see a valve on it.

The one that spudtyrant posted is idea 1b. I've thought about modding my pneumatic to do just that, and i'm making a metal-wood composite piston soon so I will be able to.

So you can just fill a normal pneumatic with a propane-oxygen mix and set it off in the chamber and the QEV triggers?

Piston Hybrid

I've been thinking about constructing a piston hybrid (having experience with spray 'n' pray and pneumatic, thought i'd just jump a step), and at this time have two idea i'd like to bounce off the collective head of the community here. 1. Build a piston hybrid with a metal piston and use the kinetic...

No. It just decreases drag.

I might try that, since i've got the essentials at my disposal. Soon as I mange, i'm putting up the pics of my setup. Still don't like relying on solder though, since I've known that to fail. Any way to braze (i think that's how you spell it) the parts? EDIT: Okay, I really need help posting pics ED...

I recently purchased a very good quality aluminium bike pump, $98. It's incredibly robust, but the gauge only goes up to 160psi. So i'm hesitant about going past the gauge, since that usually breaks the needle and runs the risk of breaking the pump. I'm looking for a good way to pressurize a large c...

The only thing I can think of is to weld that together, it is possible that if you scrub the aluminium very well, then epoxy it again that it will hold. As mentioned before, epoxy is not a one-type-glues-all.

Is the default inputted .75 the normal diameter for the piston seal head on a shock pump? Or is that just a random guess?

I'm loving the spreadsheet, totally keeping that.

Shock Pumps/ MOAR PRESSURE

I have built and am working on a pneumatic cannon with fairly low capabilities, and since it is build from schedule 40 steel and aluminum, I am now looking for some way to get over ~200 psi (low, I know) chamber pressure. I do not have ready access to a refrigerator compressor, but I am interested i...

Just make the gun out of plumbing parts, you can build almost any type of gun using them, no welder. Covering PVC with kevlar or carbon fibre will really just prevent shrapnel from exploding out of it, not fracturing, as the PVC may crack and leak, and just get caught by the covering.
