stun gun failure

what are the biggest factors in a stun gun failing over time, and how to minimize it? how many sparks is the average lifetime? i was going to hardwire just the spark circuit inside my electronics box and glue it down, but if i probably won't get years of use i need to come up with an easier modular ...

i want a collar with a seal around a threaded male adapter so the mating part isn't as hard to torque down... relying on the tapered thread for the seal isn't always best due to the inconsistencies in the tread and it would be far easier to screw and unscrew if there was a collar around the fitting ...

solvent welding a collar

i'm making a collar to go around a 4" male pipe thread out of pvc so that i can put an o ring seal between them and not have to worry about the tapered thread. what would the best way be to permanently join the collar to the base of the male threaded fitting? if i solvent weld and clamp it untill it...

kind of off topic, but on the site that you just provided a link to, has anyone looked at the rifled barrels page? where it says "The only pic of the hallowed rifling machine" doesn't look so special to me. just looks like an old toolroom lathe with the pipe clamped to the cross-slide and boring too...

chamber fan mounting

the cannon i'm building has a female endcap and a male bushing on the back of the chamber. i would like to mount the fan in the male bushing but i'd be a little worried about the combustion forcing it backwards and breaking it when it hits the end cap. i also want the fan to be able to be removed wi...

I want to keep a clean look, a brace would be sloppy looking. Perhaps. But remember it doesn't have to look sloppy. Build up a thickness of plywood longer than the chamber, cut it into the shape of a gun stock, pistol grip, etc. Then just remember to leave a rectangular cutout for the chamber to si...

how much pressure is lost in a breech like the one pictured? i was thinking of a few ways to make one air tight but if the loss is not so much, i won't even worry about it.

machinists

just curious, is anyone here a machinist? i am and i know the shureshot guy is but anyone else? also, question for the sureshot guy... do you pretty much only machine the stuff for ultimate spud gun or is that just side work and your primary work is other stuff. i run a custom job shop that also spe...

as far as i know, cleanout caps are not pressure rated. a male end adapter and female cap (threads on the outside of the chamber and inside of end cap) is much stronger.

that makes sense, i don't know why i didn't think of that.

geniusbomberman: no need, i run a machine shop, i can make just about any shape on anything. it's just a matter of deciding on the shape. i'll shape it on a lathe.

barrel reducing

i am making a cannon with interchangeable barrels for different bore sizes. i know the cannon will be less efficient as the chamber to barrel ratio will increase if the barrel length is the same. as i asked in another topic it was basically concluded that this would not significantly impair range or...

beginer wiring questions

will wiring 2 9 volt batteries in series be too much for a 12 volt fan? do i need resistors before the fan? how many? same question goes for the spark circuit in a stun gun. how do i figure out how many ohms of resistance i need before an LED wired in parallel with the fan circuit to keep from overp...
