Update - Made a pretty snazzy tank with 3/4" sprink valve. Lots of honking at 60 psi and lower. Blew a rolled up sock placed 2 inches in front of .75 " pipe barrel/nozzle whatever across the room ok I guess. Much too loud. Even ported the top of the sprink and put in a 1/8th inch QEV/blow off. Still...

It is for an invention. It has nothing to do with destruction or weaponry or tatoes or anything like that. before I cut this 4 foot length of PVC I've got and put caps on it i wanted to check here first for the minimum length to cut to. I'd love to go to 1 foot of length or 2 foot max....for the tan...

No tater...just a blast?

I want to dry fire an air cannon to vent a high force blast of air. Watching videos you see the effects of the air venting the barrels and it looks like it is powerful on its own. I don't need to fire a projectile but I do want lots of air to come out. Using 2" pipe what is the ideal length for a ta...

Hey I'm a Noob but with your design I think due to the small scale the effect would be neglegible. Maybe on a large scale it would be worth trying...that is, dumping a lot of pilot pressure fast. And large scale I mean large like house. However, if a pilot valve works by dropping pressure (normally ...

Compressed air valves from MAC, SMC, etc. are fine if you match the specs. Try to go for the process valve style vs. the control valve style to control actuators. And in the process valve style go for those that look like the sprinkler valves. That way you know you are getting a piloted valve with t...

Cool, the problem with wire or string is that this is to be repeating. Right to left. I need high speed. I've thought about taking an air cylinder and removing the piston seals. This way it will be very fast pusher and somewhat quiet. Then I'll just have to use a 3 way valve to control. What I am le...

You guys have no idea how close your diagrams come to truly new technology in a useful field of fluid power. Time to start thinking beyond air and bring in some hydraulic oil as well. There's your hybrid.

Guys thanks for thinking out of the box on this one. I'm impressed at all the multitude of designs that have been modded in this hobby and community. From all I've researched in just a day or two as an outsider I'd say we need to take this to the next level and focus the pursuit for the perfect pota...

Thanks for the thoughts. I think I'll give the Vortex cannon another consideration. A concern though is I need the volume of air to push something like a small stuffed animal (5 oz.) into and down another tube. The vortex while reasonably quiet with focus, doesn't appear to have enough volume and fo...

No damage needed. It is for a movie effect. I need to move a volume of air - lets say we visualize a cylinder of invisible air 4" dia. x 12"long. The air "slug" if you will needs to be puffed reasonably quiet (silently would be best) and have some arse behind it. Now the puff is to shoot out and kno...

Quiet Air Cannon Possible?

Hello all - new around here. All the gun stuff is cool as heck but I am trying to design something to shoot nothing but a slug of high volume high pressure air. Is it even possible?
