Re: "In the world of spuds today"
Read somewhere around here spring airsoft guns can reach 300 psi in the chamber, might be legit since it's such a low volume compared to HPA and CO2

Re: Caselman air machinegun
Something tells me that's the end of this. But at least it worked! This is the first full auto hammer valve around here right? There's room for a bit more tweaking but I'm going to shelve it for now and move on to something else

Re: composite tubes
I added 12 kilos of carbon fiber to my car and it didn't get any lighter!  Things must be priced very differently there than here; the amount of fiber and resin used for these two barrels I could buy a dozen meters of seamless aluminium tube with sufficient wall thickness for our applica...

"This ultra-light multi-purpose hunting rifle is the lightest Sako rifle ever made"
I'd say looks are the side effect, weight is the main objective. Same reason I never fancied these carbon fiber vinil wrapped car hoods :p

Re: composite tubes
So you don't have the weight advantage of CF nor the beauty of wood...? That doesn't make sense
Now if you make a foam mold then dissolve it after... That would be cool and worth the effort.

Re: Caselman air machinegun
The bolt however has o-ring right? Or built-in o-ring in the breech (probably better so the bolt can be smooth.)
If the hammer would bounce then the "leak" still helps, maybe help correct the tilt on the hammer at least?

Re: Caselman air machinegun
You're using 850 PSI right?
Since no ammo is used I'd say you don't have to worry about cocking anymore! Congratulations!
Just in case that I want to make one, the breech is pushing the hammer right? No air coming from the valve to directly recock the hammer?

Re: Caselman air machinegun
You could use a teflon shell with a steel core as hammer, should furthermore reduce the friction. You will need every bit that helps because the bolt it too high up, further increase the tilt on the hammer.

Re: Caselman air machinegun
Seems like the balanced valve is the crucial part, also rifled barrel may cause extra pressure build up to help cycle the action.

Re: "Offtopic-posts-topic" NSFW
You could also pre heat the mold to remove/clean out the model material, reducing possible bobbles and impurities inside the finished cast. You could even cast steel parts if you use ceramic shell and pre heat. Some wax can be easily machined to good surface finish and detail, actually one of the me...
