Look into the honda 300 ex and 400 ex. You can get them pretty cheap used. Lots of fun on road and off. The 400 is more of a sport bike, but its very capable of utility use as well, assuming you dont need 4 wheel drive. Top speed around 70mph stock I think. Maybe a bit more. The 300s are a bit slowe...

JSK, your a gentleman and a saint! Your links always point me where I wanna go. Thats exactly the type of operation I want to use these shells at. Im attending that exact one next year with my team. So in your opinion, what type of valve do you think would work best? Im thinking sprinkler valve, but...

Im not seeing how exactly this valve works. Can you explain it a bit? I must be missing something. Or maybe im an idiot. (I define 'maybe' loosely. Lol.) Either way, a little help would be nice.

Lol. I would have to go with good and cheap. But ill need about 250 fps. Maybe a little less. Ill design it for a 3-4 inch diameter ball. If its too weak with the appropriately sized shell, I can keep the shell, change the heads to a smaller diameter, add an inner barrel and use the smaller 1.5 inch...

True. The project is usually harder than the plan. Not to mention metal construction. Dont think id trust pvc to high pressures. And id like to make it capable of very high pressure to give me plenty of room for adjustment.

Thank you jsk, but I know I can figure out and research the pnumatic info I need. But im limited to the features that work on my phone since I dont have a smart phone. (Turns out you need to be smarter than the equipment you use.) For example, the spellcheck button doesnt work on my phone. Before I ...

Preloaded pnumatic cartridge?

I was looking into making a cannon with the combustion cartridge idea, to use as an artillery gun for milsim Airsoft events, but most Fields have a 'no pyro' rule. Id like to do it with a pnumatic cannon. Problem is I know about as much about pnumatic cannons as I do about nuclear physics. Anyone kn...

Yeah, I was working on some ideas at my parents house, and thats one of the ones I came up with. I think if I wedge the football it the end of the chamber it should creat an air tight seal and hold the slight pressure from the propane. That way the projectile will be part of the shell just like a re...

im thinking of a section at the back of the barrel, on a hinge with simple latch that I can drop the shell in and close. that sounds like it could work, I would make the cartridges out of the same pipe you are using for the barrel, and if you find a sleeve which matches the OD of this pìpe losses s...

That would work. Or if it shoots too far, drill holes along the barrel. Might have to test that effect on a small scale replica first tho. I can always make the barrel shorter too. Since it needs to look like an artillery cannon, it will have a large outer barrel for cosmetics, and the inner barrel ...

I thought with instead of the optimal 4% propane, I could use 2-3% propane I could reduce the power. Once I found the range I can work with, the angle of the cannon will dictate the target area.

Ah, for measuring. I got it now. I was gonna do the lazy mans way of this many seconds on the lowest open setting equals this much power. Similar to spray and pray, but slightly more accurate. But I see what your saying. Good advice. Thanks.

What ever your chamber is make your barrel double your chamber size!! But I thought the chamber had to be bigger to propell the spud (or in my case nerf football) all the way out of the barrel. If I could make the chamber smaller, it would greatly help my purposes but I dont see how that would work...
