Re: Short question topic
I made this quick animation for a concept I have to make a burst disk holder that doesn't need a clunky union. The bottom plate is threaded while the top plate is not. The aluminum foil is sandwiched between two flat rubber gaskets and held in place ti...

Re: Short question topic
> venturi effect Yep, but that requires there to be atmospheric pressure on both sides. If you try using one to push an air-fuel mix (which is, in passing, a very different animal to an oxy-fuel mix) into a pressurised container, it simply won't work. oh that makes sense, so it might not work even ...

Re: Short question topic
That's a good idea hectmarr, I might need to look into making something like that. Probably, but I'm not sure how you're proposing to guarantee a stoichiometric mix from a propane-oxygen torch. All the ones I've seen have 2 pressure regulators, and a torch with 2 controls, it's no just a "press the ...

Re: Short question topic
If it's only good for higher mixes then I guess it won't be much use for me  I know syringe fueling can be used for hybrids. but could a homemade pump with the inlet port attached to a balloon filled with propane-air mix from a torch nozzle be used? primitive fuel meter.jpg I know it's primitiv...

Re: Short question topic
Can someone explain manometric metering for me? I tried to read the wiki and I understand you are filling a chamber to a set pressure with fuel then compressing the chamber with the correct pressure of air for combustion, but is it just composed of a simple pressure gauge and a single ball valve? It...

Re: "In the world of spuds today"
I have found a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen as produced by electrolysis seriously lacking in power, I suspect this has to do with the fact that the reaction only produces water, and doesn't contain any buffer gas. When I added a few % of butane to the mixture the results were more promising. This...

Re: Self Contained Hydrogen Repeater
Why not pressurize the chamber using the electrolysis cell itself as the pressure source? I imagine it would actually be a very thermodynamically efficient compressor. Heck, you could probably make the electrolysis cell the chamber itself. I was thinking the exact same thing, but sources online kee...

Re: "In the world of spuds today"
I suggest you use preloaded cartridges with HHO, and the ammunition included in them. This way it can even work semi-automatically. I have the idea, (intuitive), that likewise, a propane-air combustion weapon can be improved in this way. As always, it's a matter of manufacturing and testing, becaus...

Re: "In the world of spuds today"
That's exactly what I'm talking about! I really think "HHO" is the way to go for repeating combustion spud guns. Imagine if he put some kind of reloading system on the barrel like a blow forward valve or a paintball style hopper, then had a ball valve to close the chamber off from the HHO generator....

Re: Dual Camera System to enhance combustion weapons.
it is not a very viable technique, because just by increasing the pressure of the mixture, equal results are obtained, without the complications of pressurizing two chambers. It's just my opinion, based on my ideas and not real experiences. If it seems to me that it is very useful, for combustion w...

Re: Dual Camera System to enhance combustion weapons.
Thanks for the article Hectmarr, that was really interesting. Its interesting how hydrogen wasn't as effective of a fuel because of it's high speed of burning, I definitely will use this article in my testing to see if I can come up with a geometry that will cause optimal pressure piling for hydroge...

Re: Dual Camera System to enhance combustion weapons.
I don't mind the spammer, it revived a thread I've been thinking about for awhile. Is there any simple explanation for why having two chambers increases performance? And is there any way to calculate the ideal aperture for the hole connecting both chambers based on the volumes of each chamber? I've ...

Seed Bombs! I don't know if they'll grow in the desert, but these little guys can be made quite sturdy and will decompose into flowers or other plants wherever they land seedbombs.jpg I used to make these to shoot with my slingshot when I was a little kid and filled my backyard with tons of bluebonn...
