Took it down to 600 psi and the results were very different:
So when do we get to see the unbalanced spool valve that opens with the anemic 19th century hammer at 3 kPSI?
(just kidding)
Good job noticing what the problem was. Much better fix than machining a spacer.

Re: Victorian "Air Cane" brought back to life

Nice! That mainspring certainly is the "folded from a piece of spring steel" kind from percussion and flintlocks. Absolutely beautiful and amazing it still works today compared to modern springs from only a few decades ago. :D How finely have you tried adjusting the distance between the barrel and v...

Re: Let's talk nerf blasters

Hmmm.
You know, a PCP using nerf darts wouldn't even have to use that high of a pressure. ;)

Re: The Yeet Machine

Nice build! Sorry you couldn't get that valve to work, for future reference, a barrel-sealing valve is a lot, lot easier to build (I built my first one and "controlled equalization" with some duct tape and petroleum jelly around some solid PVC rod) and usually performs better to boot (depending on t...

Re: 3D printing?

Yep,

Regardless of how much I'm annoyed I can never make the investment in time and resources to get started 3d printing, it is the future.

If you can make a 9mm carbine with 3d printed parts, there's no reason you can't make spudgun parts. :D

Re: Need help

Second here for using a burst disk and syringe metering. In terms of complexity, the next step up from that would probably be manometric (using chamber pressure to measure fuel and air) fueling. The type of fueling SB15 uses on his cannons is volumetric ("air through meter" design which is pretty ac...

Re: Crosman 1330 "Thumper" concept

Straaaange timing, both this post and me happening to check my "Spudfiles" label in gmail. The 1322 I want to "breathe on" is in the mail right now. (along with a steel breech and longer barrel) I still have to source the 1389 pump handle for a "1389 clone" (which was difficult in 2008, I can't even...

Re: Arduino automated spudgun fuel injector

Let's do the math for puff metering a hybrid with a closed chamber. We'll use numbers a bit different from mine, to make the example clearer. I've sanity checked the result and double checked some of the math, but if someone wants to check and verify (both thinking and actual math) it's appreciated...

Re: Arduino automated spudgun fuel injector

Nice job on the circuit. I'm a man that can appreciate the work required to compact something onto perfboard. If you're interested (probably not given the work put into the current iteration) an ATTiny takes up even less space but that's not always a priority. The TMBA's meter is pretty much it. You...

Re: Arduino automated spudgun fuel injector

Nice! I had dreamed up something similar in the shower, but using a fuel injector and alcohol since it would be easier to measure the amount of fuel injected vs. pulse width. Your idea of placing the outlet underwater under an inverted graduated cylinder was a good idea, maybe I could look into doin...

I don't know about you but no amount of fancy ARs or AKs, custom built or exotic auction win will ever seem to replace the feeling you get after completing a big "spud" launcher and firing it off for the first time. I've even had the honor to shoot .50 BMGs out here in Colorado at truly long ranges...

I need to get back to building. :/ I've had AR parts lying around since last fall but I finally got around to getting a lower a month ago and have been building that instead of the cannon I need to be finishing.

Re: Re:

The fan should be placed on the other side of the spark gap or it is at large risk of being blown apart. Fan at the back is problematic? Mine is mounted about 2 inches from the rear, never had a problem or had to replace it... Sgort has been gone for several years. Last I checked his channel on you...
