ABS pipe
I thought I read here to use ABS pipe instead of pvc pipe. I'm sure someone else could help more.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hate to be the one to tell you, but it was discovered the day man discovered how to fire a projectile from a barrel. I doubt that the day a projectile was first shot that man used a paper cup as wadding. You can't tak...

I never heard of a sabot. It does not blow a hole in the cup.

Paper cups as sabots...
I put a tapered cup into my 2" barrel. I cut the cup flush with the top of the barrel. Now I can shoot any object up to 2" in diameter. I've shot walnuts at great heights. The cup fits very snug and lasts a long time. Although it's paper, it's not destroyed. Try this technique. I think it's a major ...

C:B ratio
I noticed flames shooting out my barrel at night. I made a longer barrell so the projectile would be pushed longer for more distance. It's not scientific, but it seems to be common sense from my observation.

Loss pf spudgun power
My gun shot about 50 feet into the air with a small "puff!" sound. It was stored in a hot garage with the hairspray. Could you tell me what might be wrong? Thank you.

Where do you shoot?
I live in the city and I can only test fire my spudgun by shooting straight up and hoping it lands in or near my yard. I need a lot better location. Where do you shoot yours?

Longevity of potato gun versus safety question
I was wondering if a gun can be used so much that the integrity of the pvc might be in jeopardy. Could it become fragile? If it's not used too much should a gun be abandoned after a period or years due to aging of pvc? Thank you for your comments.

A novice asking: Tell my about your most powerful guns
I'm new to this forum and to the potato gun also. I've made 2 already and I like what I have. Mine are conventional. Tell me about your more sophisticated versions and information regarding possible speed and distance. Thank you. I have no desire now to make a super performer, but I'd like to know w...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To be kind, I went and plugged some data into EVBEC: You have a ~300 cubic inch chamber, and a ~230 cubic inch barrel, for a 1.33:1 C:B ratio. If you where using metered propane and a chamber fan, you would be getting ~...

Amazed at performance of my new potato gun. Read this.
My new gun has a cylinder (pvc of course) 2 feet long and 4 inches in diameter for the combustion chamber. I have a 2 inch diameter barrell that is six feet long. Total length probably 8.5 feet. Remember wiffle balls with holes made of light weight plastic? If you put a spin on them when you threw t...

I've had a problem locating a lantern sparker. Does anyone know of a good source or a nationwide store? I've thought of running a battery through a step up transformer to see if I can produce a spark. I think the utlimate would be to mount a spark plug in your tube and fire that somehow. I thank all...
