Re: BQ prusa i3 3D printer
look on the reprap forums for the "turkey oven bag" trick for creating a heated/isolated enclosed area - pretty cheap way to go about it!

Re: BQ prusa i3 3D printer
lol In reality that will be perfectly fine - the heated bed really only has any thermal significance on the first 1-3 layers depending on your layer height settings. My next 3d printer is going the way of fully enclosed with thermal control of the enclosure itself - that is really what should be hap...

Re: Power of our airguns/airsoft.
Very cool! Good job using one of the Airsoft BB's I assume! I was always amazed when DYI would post images of the energy transfer possible in some of his creations using airsoft BBs! KE is KE though!

Re: BQ prusa i3 3D printer
At that size - you will need a relay to control the power going to it. Just look for a heated bed relay. You will send power directly from your 12V power supply to the relay, and then wire the relay control directly to your controller board (usually an arduino mega style board sandwhiched to a RAMPS...

Re: BQ prusa i3 3D printer
Talk to poland spud! I would wager on using an Xbee - arduino combo. There are so many options out there now and for under $300 you can have something really cool! 3D printing is a good option for making hubs (for the carbon tubing) for smaller quad copters and planes - if you want real durability y...

Re: QEV vs homemade piston valve
Like others have said before - after 3/4" - the QEV is going to be more expensive for sure! It's not always the case that you get a adequately sealing and robust piston valve constructed on your first try. I had a coaxial 2" cannon fracture (explode pretty much) from inadequate design earlier on in ...

Re: BQ prusa i3 3D printer
If your bed isn't heated (which, if it was intended to primarily print PLA it usually isn't) it will be really easy! Just be sure not to leave it on for like half a year - the adhesive in masking tape is really only rated for like a month max (for easy removal) after that it starts to dry out and le...

This is so cool dude.
I wanted to build something on this scale for so long!
Plan on trailer mounting it if you haven't already!

Re: BQ prusa i3 3D printer
Are you printing with ABS or PLA? If ABS (Which I greatly prefer, but it does emit slight fumes) - Just take scraps of ABS and mix it with acetone - this will dissolve into a slightly thicker liquid. You can then paint this onto your glass bed (use a cotton swab or paper towel) and when the acetone ...

Re: BQ prusa i3 3D printer
Yes it sounds like your printer firmware (Marlin possibly) is not configured to your printer's dimensions. I don't have access to my home computer right now - but if you are using Marlin, it (the printer's physical dimensions) will be programmed directly into the firmware - which you will want to do...

That would be great for a 1x or possibly 2x mixture ratio! Calculating (if you found it neccesary) the failure mode of said potato and therefore the "burst pressure" may be a bit harder haha eliminating burst discs and pistons all together and using this method, possibly more calculated such as the ...

Whoa! I can't believe I never noticed yours, especially only being a year ahead of mine! I always liked that design, I made a few PVC variants (ended up being 7 feet long, but fun and ergonomic!) and two copper variants. Simple, ergonomic and sweet looking layout in my opinion!
