Thanks for all the speedy replies! This my first thread (on this forum) to get so much attention so fast :o I like the cam locks, but I don't care about my current gun enough to invest the extra money. Having worked with the fire chief in training and whatnot, I've run into these fittings and liked ...

Well- I'm in the process of molding up a batch of mortar slugs with masonry mortar that I had laying around. I may use stones in the next batch. I can't wait 'til they cure so that I can try 'em out  I'll post-up with more ideas for ammo if I have more things that I try that work out well. ...

another good one is to take a cut-off of your pvc that's the size of your barrel and grease the inside really well. then, duct tape one end off so it is relatively well sealed. After you've done that, fill it with concrete. when it's hardened, you should be able to push the slug out of the pipe (if ...

Couplers... I need opinions please. What's your preference?
All right... I've built several combustion gats and a few pneumatics. I love having interchangeable barrels and have usually (on the inline ones) attached the barrels to the firing chambers with threaded couplings. That way, you can thread-on different size barrels, blah blah. I'm about to build ano...

I like using caulk tubes and filling 'em with water then putting a bunch of small sharp rocks in the water. but first, I trim the tube so that it's not full length. If you make it about 2-3 inches long, that's sufficient. Once the rocks and water are in there, I freeze 'em and I've put 'em through t...

I know we're not supposed to talk about flaming projectiles so I'll just say this... That youtube guy (mushiyoshi or whatever) has all the tutorials for it and he explained that steel wool is key. I won't say what happens to said steel wool since the forum doesn't like me to say... His tutorial expl...

Ha ha! nice picture. Whatever size I choose, I'll weigh the materials and make sure it's reasonable. I expect it'll weigh an amount which is similar to the one in the above video. That one is claimed to weigh 10kg which is about 23lbs. I may be wrong. It definitely won't be something that i'll take ...

Thanks for all the info! I usually do edit my posts instead of adding another, but I was having computer problems the other day. I will definitely use pressure rated pvc. As far as buying it, I am in the industrial field and have some good connections (no pun intended). I probably won't end up buyin...

Another thing... I would consider using 8" pvc for the chamber. I can't decide whether to do an over-under or an inline. Inline would probably get bulky with something that big. Then again, I like the look of an inline better. THe over-under would be easier to fuel and load. You could just stand it ...

I'm in the process of measuring how far my spuds go.. 2" x 6' barrel powered by a 4x16" chamber... I nearly lose sight of 'em. I do know were they're landing but it's in the water. I have to do a distance measuring between where they land and where I stand while shooting. it seems like a hell of alo...

Building a big cannon. I need advice so I can do it right
At the moment, I'm a happy spudder. I have a cannon with a 2" x 6' barrel and a 4" x 16" chamber. It's a spray and pray with a single gap ignition. I've experimented with different fuels and love propane. Though I'm happy with this gun, I want to build a bigger one and have for a long time. I've bee...

I've wondered about the service life also. WHen I built my big one, I etched the date of its creation right on the plastic so that I don't forget how old it is. 5 years and no explosion yet. It's been painted and I keep it out of the sun light. I think that definitely helps. I want to switch back to...
