One thing for next time is I normally don't do the quarter turn back to clear the threads until I'm at least a thread or two in.

To get a good estimate you can measure the od on the tap. That's a pretty good trick using the chuck to hold the die, but a fun project could be to make your own holder. It's a fun machining project to indicate in and cut the morse taper for the tailstock and it's very satisfying to use a tool that ...

Just for the record you can't use a rear mounted cut off tool on the front side of the lathe unless you run it in reverse. Also looking good jack you'll be caught up in no time.

Quick thing on zeroing the wheels jack incase you didn't figure it out, you can tighten or loosen the small black knurled nut inside the silver hand wheels and that loosens the red ring to make zeroing easier and decreasing the chance of it sliding with relation to the hand wheel when turning them. ...

You probably will be able to machine without anyone noticing, my sherline is very quiet along as you can avoid chatter, not waking people up will be a little extra motivation to get your speeds and feeds just right.

Jsr I believe the live center was brought in because when it's cone shape is pressed into the spinning tube it almost perfectly centers it, the part is most likely loose enough to allow the few thou of movement that the live center caused. If not I'm sure LeMaudit will enlighten both of us.

Ya it's a compressed air engine, the cylinder with one hole just slides on the main body with two holes in it one with hpa which drives the piston on the power stroke and the other one is open to allow air to escape on the exhaust stroke. The whole thing is about 3.5" long 2.5" tall and 2" wide, it'...

Thanks LeMaudit forgot to mention that seeing your mini boy and reading some of the stuff on what I guess is your website definitely swayed me towards sherline.

Great minds must think alike jsr, a couple weeks ago I traded my south bend for a sherline lathe/mill and a couple accessories because I'm going to be moving into a small apartment or dorm for university. It has almost everything thing I want but they guy I traded with let me hang onto enough south ...

Why do you need a qev at all for airsoft? I doubt you will get nearly as many shots as you want if you use a qev and blow gun pilot, I would just wait and get a single larger (1/4") dcv

I would go qev dcv and pneumatic cylinder, the one I made cycled plenty quickly (I dont airspft but I assume dmr is a semi? If not you could probably make it full auto with electronics or smart mechanics) and you only lose a tiny bit of pilot air every shot. And feeding is reliable which I assume is...

The 3-1 slip-thread bushing may be hard to find but you could probably just nest a couple of bushings to get to the right size, it doesn't take up much more space.

I have no idea why theres no slip to male adapter there is at all my local hardware and plumbing stores.
