Re: Short question topic

Yes, it looks good and is a nice size. I don't think they realized how powerful it could have been with a proper fuel mix.

Re: Short question topic

> venturi effect Yep, but that requires there to be atmospheric pressure on both sides. If you try using one to push an air-fuel mix (which is, in passing, a very different animal to an oxy-fuel mix) into a pressurised container, it simply won't work. There's a guy on youtube that had a video with ...

Re: Destruction video

Thanks. Good to see you still around. The best I can do for now is to suggest using youtube's slow-mo feature, hehe.

Re: Autonomous hybrid IV

I didn't see this before, but that's a nice looking group of launchers. I love the look of the new one. Nice work.

Re: Short question topic

Personally I don't like having fuel mixed with oxygen until it's inside my chamber. It's just a thing with me I guess.

Re: Short question topic

I think it's only good for higher mixes because the post fuel chamber pressure is really low for anything below 10X really. Also, I'm pretty sure you can use HGDT for the post fuel chamber pressure if you want. As for how to get the fuel in there, I don't know. Schrader valve maybe or quick disconne...

Re: Destruction video

I made the video better quality. It doesn't lag or skip now. The first shot looks better. Man, I suck at videos!

Destruction video

Sorry for the wind. I suck at videos. Had a ton of fun today and though't I'd share some of the better clips. The last clip is how soda cans handle 4x. Hint: they don't.

Re: Pneumatic Pumpkin/Apple Blaster Cannon

I'm used to thinking about dumping the whole chamber for every shot, so I'm not sure what size valve you'd need. What you can do is browse the pneumatic cannon section to get a feel for what size valves are being used for a given cannon size. I'd like to help more here, but it sounds like a question...

Re: Pneumatic Pumpkin/Apple Blaster Cannon

I think there is no better apple blaster than Technician's QDV apple cannon design. I don't know if it's suited for a semi-commercial application like this though. You can maybe rig it up to be more automated and whatnot, but that takes design work. I get the feeling the OP wants to just buy a valve...

Re: A look inside the "bleacher reacher" t-shirt launcher

Aluminum piston? Maybe there is a dashpot/air cushion effect preventing a hard slam. That's interesting. And a metal to metal seal. That's also interesting. Those are two things I would never consider to try, yet they work.

Re: "In the world of spuds today"

I had a spring-piston air rifle a long time ago and I thought I'd oil the spring inside to keep it fresh and healthy, so I dropped some oil right inside the air port. I was surprised when I shot the thing because it made a loud crack, smoked a little and the shot seemed more powerful than normal, lo...

Re: A look inside the "bleacher reacher" t-shirt launcher

Thanks for showing that. That's a really great design. I love the short piston travel and front-mounted configuration of the piston housing because that preserves chamber volume. I tried to design my last cannon that way years ago when I first started thinking about a piston hybrid design, but I cou...

Re: A look inside the "bleacher reacher" t-shirt launcher

What does the chamber look like on these things? I suppose you might get in trouble for uploading a paint drawing of how this thing works?

Re: New Guy

^ Good eye on the rich mix soot. I wish people would include details when showing a video of something exploding that wasn't supposed to explode. Although they did look like they were about 15 years old, so I suppose we get what we get. I certainly wouldn't expect my 15 year old self to be smart eno...
