Looks to me like a hop-up rubber.
You might want to email an online airsoft shop like airsoft gi or go to an airsoft forum, they will probibly point you in the right direction.

I had a very similar design, the only differences are: mine is a 'T' valve and could go full auto if you swaped the pilot valve with a pop-off valve.

Seriously cool JoergS. I love the carbon fibre slingshot, where did you get the carbon fibre sheet?

I've used fimo for a grip before and it looked really good at first but after using it a bit a few cracks formed and eventually fell appart.
This might be because i baked it too long or not long enough.

A strong way to mount the "cannon" to the stock is by soldering a some nuts to the underside of the cannon then drilling holes through the stock so you can put bolts through the underside of the stock and screw them into the cannon. Bolt action would be cool but it's hard to do on a coaxal. I have a few designs for bolt action mechanisms but theres just too hard for me with the tools i have to make one that doesn't leak.

How about spinning the barrel instead of the coil, that way it has a physical affect on the projectile.

the ball valve is there so i can keep it connected to the compressor. Instead of having to attach it for every shot all i have to do is open and close the valve.
Its called L96 because its supposed to resemble a L96.
