Re: Panzerabwehrwerfer 600 and the high-low pressure system
I like this idea, seems a lot less tedious than cutting burst disks. Perhaps by pairing it with the friction O-ring detent you could make a reliable system that doesn't expend an O-ring each shot.

Re: CO2 Stokes Mortar
I was bored today and decided to mess around more on this project. I finally sucked it up and filled the bottle 40% of the way with water. Then finally it happened...it flew a whopping 3 feet! I might have to go back to this project and test different amounts of water and pressure, maybe even ...

Found this neat video of a guy's solenoid artillery cannon. Anyone have any ideas on how he made that elevation adjustment wheel? Overall the sighting system is very nice and I'd like to make it on my next cannon.

Re: BANGSITE (calcium carbide) as combustible
Really interesting find.
I've always wanted to make a calcium carbide cannon but the stuff is just so hard to find and expensive in my area.
Would be cool to see a cartridge calcium carbide ping pong flak cannon though

That's pretty nice damage!
Could you share the design of your launcher?

Re: Short question topic
I've been working on my first hybrid, and I'm getting some serious grief with the ignition. I epoxied a spark plug into a pipe reducer fitting and threaded that on to the combustion chamber and I got it to spark with a regular barbecue igniter (one of the ones that uses batteries, not a piezo). But ...

Re: 3d printed ammo testing
That looks like it will work pretty well, make sure you film it :) If only I had a highspeed camera! I'm going to set up a video with all these projectiles sometime this week and set them up against different tests such as range, penetration, and possibly velocity (if I can find someone with a chro...

Re: 3d printed ammo testing
testslug.jpg Just printed this little stinger :-P I took the advice of the 45 degree chamfer on the leading edge of each fin (there are 8 total), and I'm excited to see how well they stabilize the little half inch projectile. I also made this one a lot longer than my previous projectiles (28.7mm ta...

Re: How exactly to build a pneumatic tennis ball launcher?
What metal exactly to use for the barrel and chamber? What sort of metal pieces do I put together to make the air chamber? what kind of valve do you plan on using? Schedule 40 black iron pipe or galvanized steel pipe are both pretty common at hardware stores and are very durable. Generally you'll n...

regular old Teflon tape will do fine. Just wrap them around the threads a few times and screw on the pieces tight.MrGalaxy wrote:Are you sure air will not leak out near the threads? What should i coat the threads with?

Re: 3d printed ammo testing
I have had somewhat of a success with some 3D printed diabolo style slugs, haven't tested those in larger calibers though yeah, I messed around with diabolos for the 1/2" bore awhile ago and I had great results with them. I found that even though they often weighed only a couple grams, that they co...

Re: 3d printed ammo testing
I'm taking a break from printing projectiles for my 2 inch bore cannon and I decided to experiment with some smaller 1/2" projectiles. I designed this one to be somewhat like a foster slug, but I implanted a turned hardened steel spike into the tip to give it weight and allow it to stick into my tar...

Re: Golf ball launcher
1.5" EMT Electrical Conduit Pipe usually fits a golf ball pretty well. You'll need to make an adapter of some form for it to work though.
