Re: Spherical interior vortex block

Very interesting and another illustration of how 3D printing is allowing innovation that would have been difficult to flesh out with traditional manufacturing techniques.

It would be nice to see it in action at that rate of fire ;)

Re: How much velocity do you need to comfortably reach 300 meters range with a cannon?

300 meters is a long way. There are people driving projectiles by with air that are hitting targets at that range and beyond: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W0HyVqREjg As you've pointed out however, what they are using are closer to firearms in terms of projectiles and manufacturing than your ave...

Re: Semi-Auto Mechanisms of Commercial Airpistols

It's worth linking to this page featuring diagrams and animations of most paintball guns. I made one myself for Dye recently. Right now I'm building a follow rest for the lathe, then I should be able to get back on track.

Re: Advice for pneumatic speargun

Welcome to the forum! Interesting project, I suppose the first question before dispensing advice would be what is your budget and what are your technical abilities and available facilities? Does it have to be made from off-the-shelf components or are you able to envisage some machined parts? I'm not...

Something I acquired recently, a "classic" Coksai/Kokusai CAR-15 airsoft rifle: 20230318_092349[1].jpg It works on the "bullet valve" principle that is relevant to the subject of this thread: bulletvalve.gif Some time in the future I'll do a detailed tear down to elucidate the operating system furth...

Absolutely beautiful they-don't-make-'em-like-they-used-to lathe and great work you've done with it! I look forward to some higher pressure testing :D

Did I understand correctly that you have a metal-on-metal seal for the piston seat?

Re: Caselman air machinegun

Your hammer spring must be too strong, the reason I used a balanced valve in this project is to make sure I could get away with a relatively weak spring.

Re: "Offtopic-posts-topic" NSFW

Even though it's my bread and butter, my personal airsoft gun collection has never been extensive. I recently found an old (probably made in the early 2000s) Tokyo Marui MP5SD6 however, and to scratch an itch turned it into a 30 round per second CQB machine, complete with the latest in bluetooth-con...

So I work at a nuclear fusion start-up these days.
That sounds pretty neat! To think all these resources are being squandered on trivial endeavors such as clean energy when they could be used instead to accelerate farm produce to hypersonic velocities  :D

Re: My current hobby: Cowboy Action Shooting

The firing mechanism worked perfectly and it didn't explode, but the rifling is so worn that it was keyholing like crazy, the bullets weren't stabilizing at all. I'll probably re-barrel it at some point.

Re: fl(air) gun - mechanically locked pneumatic cartridge for a 26.5mm flare gun

Thank you gents! I love all the effort to keep it looking stock and completely reversable if desiring to use a conventional flare. It also means that the cartridge can be used in any 26.5mm flare gun, I'm really tempted to make a 12 gauge version. I log back into this site every month to see what's ...

Re: Failure to break through 10mm steel plate

picture thread for reference , that is extremely impressive, congratulations! Can it be compared with the 7.62×39mm intermediate rifle bullet? I know that the bullet fired by ak47 can pierce a 10mm steel plate, but the cross-sectional area of the bullet is different, which will affect the penetrati...

Not sure if the world also just got a bit more PC or woke or whatever they call it now. Given all of the bad gun related news, wielding plumbing fittings for unintended purposes can label you as a bit of a, character. I think it was always like that, on the other hand it's true that society seems t...
