1'' Custom Piston Valve CAD

Hey guys, I haven't had a post up in a while now. I just got Autodesk Inventor 2012 to play around with and came up with this. I really want some scrutiny here. I took a Drawing Design and Production class in my high school sophomore year and used Autodesk 2010. I want to see how rusty I got. ...

For some of you more experienced members... I understand the importance of having a light weight piston especially with a design like this, But what is the likely hood of the cannon accidentally firing if it was ever to be dropped on its rear end on some solid surface, ie concrete. Would the piston...

Fairly concentrated nitric acid does a good job of dissolving epoxy, but your shirt might be a little nitrated afterwards. Could be a neat way to recycle the shirt. Just don't wear it again. Can't be good for your health. :bom: EDIT Toluene, Xylene, and Acetone are solvent's used for PVC. They can ...

I based 80PSI off of every can of combination cement I have ever bought. I think I may test the working pressure of various pipe sizes with combo cement. Now I'm kinda curious about the actual bursting pressure. Anyways, I do like the cannon. It's much cleaner than any of my pneumatics. I need...

That Pipe should be rated for 200PSI or 13.7BAR according to the engineering toolbox. I wouldn't take it beyond 5.5 BAR unless you use high pressure rated pvc cement though. Most combination ABS/PVC cements only hold up to 80PSI/5.5BAR because they don't "weld" the pipe together! I don't think this...

I just found a potential problem with the linked QEV. The valve is rated for 0-0.8kgf/cm^2. That's roughly an 11.4 PSI rating. I don't know that using that is such a good idea.

EDIT: Nevermind. I missed the stateside post and the QEV from Grainger. I feel stoopit.

You definitely need an o-ring seal on that piston. Use a very small drill bit to put an equalization hole in the piston so that your chamber will fill and still allow piloting. I actually used washers and did a very similar valve. Without the seal, it will not work unless your piston has a tolerance...

All I can tell you for the mating of the two is find the right threads in steel pipe or fittings. I read somewhere that almost all paintball tanks today use 5/8'' 18 UNF threads, I don't know for sure what the regulator threads would be though. But do not use pvc for HPA. PVC is not meant for 300PSI.

They do make nitrogen canisters! Nitrogen here. I can find paintball tank style hydrogen canisters but not minis like the nitrogen.

I'm not too sure about the sizing of the gold port. There isn't any indication on which port it is. If it's the P port then sure but if it's r, that's where the air would flow into the barrel. That gold port is only 5/8'' versus the rest being 3/4''. EDIT: I found a valve for double the cost that is...

Theoretically, it would work even if you had an entirely smooth face. Air can get into the smallest of gaps. I am pretty sure this has been discussed somewhere before. So long as you have a smooth face to seal against, it should work fine.
