The regulator is very interesting, is it just a stock one you get at homedepot with a new higher pressure gauge? Honestly, it's similar, but seems to have a higher pressure rating too. Most air tool regulators seem to go to around 0-60 psi or 0-125 psi or so. this one came with a bigger gauge, and ...

well, It's finally done for the most part. I finished the design and added some new features. I humbly submit for your enjoyment Thunderbess Mk II http://i730.photobucket.com/albums/ww303/rave669/DSCF0550.jpg I made a longer barrel, but recycled the breech slide coupling. the breech opening itself i...

I am trying a similar setup using sprinkler valve trigger and a CO2 tank as a reserve. and I don't know what kind of regulator to buy. I'd like to control the output pressure so I can vary my range. I also need to buy a valve so I can see the pressure i'm adjusting in my chamber. My operating press...

The cylinder under the barrel is his chamber. It looks to be a regulated chamber at that.

It looks to be a QEV piloted by a Modified, spring triggered ball valve. Looks to be an efficient design, not to mention a good-looking airgun.

I bet it would work on aluminum rod too, it'll just take longer. Would wear down the pipe cutter after a while, though.

A propane torch will work fine; no need to go all oxy/acetelyne on it! Seriously, you put flux on your cleaned fittings; heat with a torch, when the flux starts to bubble and flow, touch your solder to the joint; it'll wick into the gap, and you're all set. If you're vaporizing the copper; you're do...

Just make a checkvalve yourself; it's easier, and flows better.

Check the thread on my build for ideas; soldering heat is not an issue if you build it like I did.

Actually, if you use one from a tire, that's been shaved, it won't work. you need to buy one for a portable air tank (it's sometimes called a tank valve). it's a schraeder that screws into a 1/8" bung. The thread on connection to fill it is a bit harder to find either scavenge one off of a shock pum...

Yes, a schraeder will fit 1/8" NPT threads, but you need to get the correct part. You need a schraeder for a compressed air tank. You can find these at the local hardware or auto parts store, by the air compressors, accessories and fittings. It will thread in to any 1/8" NPT fitting. they are mainly...

don't they use UV lasers to make a sort or wireless taser? I read about a prototype like that somewhere before.

I've also considered a rotating ballvalve for an auto or semi-auto airgun. One idea involved a clockspring, toothed cog and a sear. you would wind it up with a key (like an old air cane), charge with air; the cog and spring would allow a a quick, full revolution with each trigger pull. the valve wou...

You know, Old Red Ryder type BB guns (prior to the use of steel BBs) used lead BB shot, and a tight bore at the breach area of the barrel to hold the BBs in place and produce higher muzzle velocities, the lead was able to deform a little to pass through the breech on firing. When Steel BB's became t...

that's a clever fueling method. it looks like the mix isn't ignited until the fuel transfer port is sealed off from the chamber. Thumbs up for creativity and lots of brass! Let's see If I understand how the fueling/ignition cycle works on this: Stage one, passage between a chamber and fueling port i...

We are using a Mikuni VM-16 carburetor. It is currently jetted for gasoline, however we are getting new jets. We calculated the AFR of Iso-octane to be 15.175 to 1. I thought that would be nice to post here because it doesn't appear to be anywhere else on the internet. Wow, that sure is running lea...

Actually, I'd be more concerned with the duty cycle than overheating; it'll beat the hell out of the cylinder wall with all the starting and stopping and short run times... If you need to cool it, I'd run copper heat pipes from the fins on the cylinder head to just outside the skin of the vehicle; t...
