Honestly, it doesn't look much bigger than the two stroke motors I put on bicycles, probably gets similar mileage too (I get about 150 MPG, without spending an arm and a leg, and it's running a carburetor) I get better mileage when I pedal the bike too. Which brings me to my next point: When I poste...

Actually, a small level (small bubble glass) would be an awesome accessory for a spudgun, now that I think about it. I would glue it to just under the rear sight Check this out, for instance: http://www.sinclairintl.com/product/5292/Shooting-Rest-Accessories I've thought about adding a counterweight...

From my tinkering (and by no means am I the authority on the subject) I have come to the conclusion that you need about a 1:1 C:B ratio for a decent pneumatic at lower pressures, in other words, you need as much air space in your chamber as your barrel. you can make the chamber diameter larger than ...

The chamber to barrel ratio is about 1:1, the chamber tubing is 3/4" copper, the breach barrel is 1/2" copper. I can always change chambers out, as it's threaded. I also made a quick connect adapter that screws into the tank receiver; I just put it in place of the tank, click on my air line, and I c...

Well, I got an update today, apparently, most of the warehouses didn't have the valve, one did, but misplaced the stock. Before it was ordered from a different supplier, the one location found their stock and it is being shipped from out of state, so, it won't be in tomorrow, but I'm supposed to get...

Yes, it looked like a small brass fitting, it had female, 1/4" threads on one end, the other side had a threaded cap with some sort of compression fitting in it, it looked like it accepts some kind of small diameter plastic air line. no valve in it though;it was a straight pass-through, like an adap...

QEV Issues...

Sigh, I just got back from Fastenal; My QEV was supposed to be in today. I go to the counter, the clerk goes in back to get it, and she hands me a bag with an odd brass fitting in it. "That's not right" I said. "It's the part you ordered" she said. "No way. First of all, it's not a valve, it's some ...

My kid has been home sick today, so I showed him your project and gave him a little science lesson today; I have to say, you're a brilliant guy. You remind me of an old friend of mine who burnt up his parents garage with his experiments when we were kids, nowadays he works for a defense contractor, ...

So, if I'm getting you PolandSpud, the spring is there to counteract the friction/weight of the piston?

Are you sure about it having a spring? Looks far simpler than that: 1: The bottle is pre-pressurized 2: He cracks the ballvalve and it actuates the piston forward. You can clearly hear the piston click shut when he pressurizes the chamber off the bottle. He just opens and closes the ballvalve quickl...

I've actually thought of that idea before, the trick is finding the appropriate spring. They make springs for air chisels that would probably work perfectly. Torsion springs aren't usually a universal application though, they're more purpose built. I've considered turning my own springs, the trick i...

No prob Gun Freak, but at the same time, you should listen to Gippeto's warnings. He may have been harsh; but he just wants people to be safe out there. I don't blame him. If you look at his builds, you can tell he knows what he's doing. If you have any doubts regarding something you're doing, just ...

Okay, so now I have two cents and the ball is in my court. I'll bite... Do I promote safe practices? you bet your ass I do. I have kids, so it's a no-brainer. Do my kids always follow the rules? hell no. Do they sometimes get hurt because they don't follow the house rules or listen to my advice, you...
