Is it large enough? Larger than the porting, so that the rubber doesn't flap.

And then the back of the piston should still be larger than the porting.

The back has to be a larger diameter than the diameter of the porting it seals on.

This causes a net force backwards when the pilot volume is vented, opening the valve.
What people here mean, is that you will probably need a metal washer behind the rubber washer (sealing face).

The first diagram (animated one) will not work that way.
When you pilot it the sealing face will flap into the back.

but it's a sealing face and not a plug, therefore it needs to have a certain amount of pressure in the pilot to push the sealing face and make it seal Regardless, if the piston rides in a tube that is the same diameter or smaller than the barrel, it will never open. Take a look at your design in de...

Holes in an endcap, rubber flap on the inside that can open, but also seal depending on the pressure differential.

However, I don't think that the gases have enough momentum to suck in all the air you need.

Could work, but only if you can size the piston properly. This piston valve will open after the pilot volume has dropped to almost atmospheric pressure, when the pressure will leak into the porting as there is not enough pressure to seal anymore. Without an O-ring or precise fit, this will dump a lo...

Weird. PN9 should be able to hold 131 psi (from the inside).

Common belief is that a pipe is able to hold at least the same pressure from the outside as the inside.
But I guess that is not the case if it is deformed and became somewhat epileptic.

Any experts with a mathematical explanation nearby?

Some inside taper makes it tighter.
However, too much inside taper will cause the spud to be mashed when inserting it into the barrel.
Don't taper it too much on the inside.

So: a little tapering on the inside, and the rest outside.

Hahahah very cute how it loads itself step by step. MrCrowley is right, I also (highly) recommend switching to a PC fan built inside the chamber, running it nonstop. Also, propane metering would be an upgrade that will probably be even easier to build than your robotic spraynpray setup. Howeve...
